Škoda’s role and the charitable connection
Škoda Auto India sponsored the event. Brand Director Ashish Gupta told DriveSpark that cycling had been part of the company’s identity from its early days and described bringing L’Étape to India as an extension of that heritage. DriveSpark also reported a 23-year Škoda association with the Tour de France and traced the company’s bicycle manufacturing to 1895, when founders Václav Laurin and Václav Klement began making bicycles in Mladá Boleslav. Those historical figures are claims in that report and are not independently confirmed here.
The report linked the event to GivingBack, an initiative of the Sita Bhateja Charitable Trust that supports free and subsidised neuro and spine surgeries. It described the Mysuru event as continuing Škoda’s association with the initiative.
