Choose the Kia EV3 Long Range if you regularly cover long distances and want the highest published UK WLTP range. Those are not like-for-like versions, so the sensible decision is to compare the exact battery, trim, wheels, incentives and delivered price you can actually order.
The figures below are manufacturer specifications for the UK market. Škoda’s pricing announcement is from 2026, while Kia’s specification page was current on 13 October 2026; prices, grant treatment, inventory and delivery dates can change.

Which is cheaper in the UK?
On the published figures, the Epiq has the lower entry point. Škoda announced the model from £24,950 OTR in the UK and described it as “the most affordable fully electric Škoda model”. That is Škoda’s own positioning, not an independent ranking of every electric SUV on sale.

Kia’s UK page lists the EV3 Air Standard Range from £31,555, with a stated £1,500 Government Electric Car Grant included. The two prices should not be treated as an equipment-matched comparison: the Epiq figure is a model starting price, while the Kia figure identifies a particular Air version and explicitly includes a grant. Grant eligibility, campaign support, taxes, options and dealer offers can alter the amount a buyer pays.
Before deciding that one is better value, configure both cars with the battery and equipment you actually need. Check whether the displayed Kia grant applies to your order, whether it is already reflected in finance calculations and whether the Epiq price refers to an immediately available version. Ask for an itemised OTR quote rather than relying on a headline banner.
Also compare the total cost of the ownership arrangement, not just the cash price. A finance illustration can change with deposit, contract length, annual mileage, final payment and interest rate. Include metallic paint, larger wheels, charging cables, delivery charges, service plans and any insurance products in the same calculation. The headline difference may narrow or widen once the two cars are specified with equivalent equipment.
Which has more range?
Published range by battery
The EV3 has the clearest range advantage when you select its Long Range battery: Kia publishes up to 375 miles WLTP. Its Standard Range Air is listed at 270 miles. Škoda quotes up to 272 miles for the Epiq 55, so the Epiq and EV3 Standard Range are close on their headline numbers, while the Kia Long Range sits in a different class for official range.
Battery labels are not directly interchangeable. Škoda’s technical sheet gives the Epiq 55 as 55 kWh gross and 51.7 kWh net, distinguishing total cell capacity from the energy made available for driving. Kia lists nominal capacities of 58.3 kWh and 81.4 kWh for its two EV3 versions. Those figures are useful for identifying variants, but they do not by themselves establish usable energy, efficiency or real-world distance.
What WLTP does and does not tell you
WLTP is a standardised laboratory comparison method. It lets shoppers compare cars tested under a common procedure, but it is not a guarantee that either vehicle will travel its stated distance on every trip. Motorway speed, cold weather, rain, wind, gradients, traffic, tyre choice, wheel size, payload and cabin heating or air conditioning all affect consumption.
No independent winter-range, motorway-range or efficiency test was established for this comparison. Treat the published figures as an upper reference for selecting a battery, then build a personal margin around your longest regular journey. A driver who can charge at home every night may find the shorter-range version adequate; someone covering long motorway legs with limited charging stops will gain more from the EV3 Long Range’s larger reserve.
Wheel and tyre specification deserves particular attention. The official maximum can apply only to a particular wheel combination, so selecting larger wheels may change the certified figure. Ask the dealer to show the WLTP range for the exact wheel and trim on your order rather than assuming every Epiq 55 or EV3 Long Range has the same number.
How long does each take to charge?
Rapid DC charging
The cited Epiq 55 technical data specifies up to 105 kW and 10–80% in 24 minutes. Kia lists 29 minutes for the EV3 Standard Range under its stated 101 kW condition and 31 minutes for the Long Range under its stated 128 kW condition. The times are manufacturer estimates for defined conditions, not a promise that every public charger will deliver them.
Actual speed depends on the charger’s available output, the car’s battery temperature, state of charge, weather and whether another vehicle is sharing the site. Charging normally slows as the battery approaches a high state of charge, which is why road-trip planning often uses a short stop in the middle of the battery rather than waiting for 100%.
The Long Range EV3 carries more energy, yet its quoted 10–80% time is only slightly longer than the Standard Range’s. That can be useful on journeys: you receive a substantially larger driving reserve from a similarly timed stop, provided the charging station can meet the car’s requirements.

- Premium Quality & Safety:The Die-cast car model pull back Toy Cars is made of alloy materials, rubber tires, which is high quality and performance, which can be used safely by children.
- Function: Engine sound and light. Press the two wheels of the front car to trigger the engine sound and lights, and open the door to trigger the lights of the front and rear lights.
- Ideal gift: Metal car is very suitable as birthday,Christmas gift, party decoration and cake decoration.
- Interesting pull back car: Put the car on the ground, press and hold the car body, then pull back, it will drive forward. Very funny.
For a fair road-trip comparison, use the same starting state of charge, destination reserve and charger type. A 150 kW site may be capable of supplying the car’s peak, but the vehicle will not necessarily hold that rate throughout the session. A busy or restricted site can make a nominally faster car slower in practice, so route reliability matters as much as the maximum kW figure.
AC charging at home or work
Both cars’ cited specifications support 11 kW AC charging. Škoda gives 5.5 hours for the Epiq 55 specification, while Kia lists 5h20 for the Standard Range and 7h15 for the Long Range, measured from 10–100%. Those times assume suitable three-phase supply and the stated vehicle equipment; many UK homes have single-phase electricity and will charge more slowly.
A home EV wallbox charger can make either vehicle easy to live with because the car can recover energy while parked overnight. Installation depends on the property’s wiring, consumer unit, parking arrangement, cable route and the charger selected. Have an accredited installer confirm the maximum supply before budgeting, and check whether the car is supplied with the cable you need for your regular charging points.
If you rent, use a communal bay or park on the street, establish how you will charge before choosing a battery. A larger EV3 battery cannot compensate for an unreliable charging routine, while a smaller battery may be perfectly practical when overnight charging is available. Ask about connector type, billing and access rules at work or public chargers, and keep a backup location for periods when your usual point is occupied.

Škoda’s technical data quotes a 475-litre boot for the Epiq. Kia lists 460 litres for the EV3’s main luggage compartment plus a 25-litre front compartment. That makes the principal boot measurements close, although manufacturers can use different measuring methods and may count usable recesses differently.
For a pushchair, dog crate, large suitcase or mobility equipment, litres are only the starting point. Measure the object’s length, height and width, then check the loading aperture, rear-seat split, floor height and whether the front compartment is suitable for the items you carry. A test load at a dealer is more reliable than assuming a five-litre difference will decide the outcome.
The EV3’s 25-litre front compartment may be useful for charging cables or smaller items, but it is not an extra 25 litres of conventional rear luggage space. Check water resistance, access and the manufacturer’s permitted use before placing anything there. If you regularly carry a pram, musical instrument or pet crate, bring it to both dealerships and test the seats in their normal travelling position.
How do their dimensions affect everyday use?
The EV3 is longer and wider in the cited UK specifications, while the Epiq is taller and has a shorter overall footprint. The Epiq’s 2,601 mm wheelbase and narrower body may be helpful in older streets, tight parking bays and compact garages. The EV3’s extra length and width can provide a more substantial road presence, but they also deserve a measurement check if your parking space is constrained.

Exterior dimensions do not prove which car has the roomier rear seat. Seat shape, dashboard design, roof line, glazing and the position of the battery floor all influence comfort. Sit in the rear with the front seat set for the tallest regular occupant, and check child-seat access, door opening and headroom before ordering.
Measure mirrors, charging-port clearance and the route from your street to your parking space, not just the marked bay. A car that fits on paper may be awkward if a wall, pillar or neighbour’s vehicle prevents the doors from opening fully. Check turning space and reversing visibility on a test drive, especially if the EV will be used in a narrow garage or multi-storey car park.

Do the power figures make one faster?
The Epiq 55 is rated at 155 kW and 290 Nm, while the listed EV3 specification shows 170 kW maximum power. Those figures indicate the motor output available in the specified versions, but they do not establish acceleration times, overtaking performance or a ride-and-handling winner. Software limits, battery state of charge, tyre grip and vehicle weight all affect how the power feels.
Both cited versions are front-wheel drive. That layout can be entirely adequate for normal UK roads, but it is not the same as an all-wheel-drive system for repeated use on steep, loose or snowy surfaces. If you tow, regularly drive on unmade roads or need particular traction equipment, ask the dealer for the exact derivative’s approved capacities and drivetrain details; they are not established by the headline power numbers alone.
Recommended Free Tools
Are they all-wheel drive?
The sourced versions are front-wheel drive. The Epiq 55 is specified at 155 kW and 290 Nm, and the cited Škoda press material describes the architecture as front-wheel drive. Kia’s UK specification also describes the EV3 as front-wheel drive and lists 170 kW maximum power for the relevant specification.
Do not assume that a future model year, another market or a different battery will offer all-wheel drive. If traction on steep, loose or snowy roads is essential, confirm the exact UK derivative with the manufacturer rather than inferring it from the model name.
Which is better for different driving patterns?
Mostly urban driving and short commutes
The Epiq’s lower listed entry price and smaller external dimensions make it the more natural starting point for buyers whose driving is mainly local. Its published range is still sufficient for many commuting patterns, especially when the vehicle can be charged at home. The important check is not the headline number but whether your parking and charging routine works without relying on an inconvenient public charger.
Frequent motorway or cross-country trips
The EV3 Long Range is the stronger specification-led choice for drivers who regularly travel beyond the practical comfort zone of a smaller battery. Its higher published WLTP figure provides more planning margin between stops. It does not remove the effects of winter, speed or traffic, and it costs more at the listed starting point, so the benefit is greatest when those long journeys are frequent rather than occasional.
Mixed use with occasional long trips
Compare the EV3 Standard Range and Epiq 55 directly if most days are local but you make a few annual holidays. Their published maximum ranges are close, so price, equipment, seating comfort, charging access and dealer support may matter more than the badge. Consider hiring a larger-range car for rare journeys if buying the bigger battery would otherwise consume money you value elsewhere; that is a personal ownership calculation, not a specification claim.
Family and practical use
Neither quoted boot figure makes an automatic winner. The Epiq has the larger stated main boot, while the EV3 combines a slightly smaller main compartment with its 25-litre front compartment. Families should check two child seats side by side, access to buckles, rear ventilation and the space left for a pushchair. A compact outside width can be more valuable than a small difference in litres when loading children in a tight car park.
How to choose the exact version
- Set your real route requirement. List your longest normal day, motorway proportion, winter conditions and whether you can charge at home or work.
- Select the battery first. Compare Epiq 55 with EV3 Standard Range for a closer range-and-price decision, then assess the EV3 Long Range separately rather than treating it as the EV3’s base specification.
- Price identical equipment. Include paint, wheels, heat-pump or climate options if offered, charging cables, delivery charges, service products and finance interest. Use the same deposit, term and annual mileage when comparing monthly payments.
- Verify incentives. Ask Kia or the dealer whether the displayed grant still applies to your customer type and vehicle configuration. Confirm the Epiq’s current OTR price and any campaign end date directly with Škoda.
- Check physical fit. Measure your garage, parking bay, child seats, pushchair and luggage. Compare the loading aperture as well as the quoted boot litres.
- Plan charging. Obtain a home-installation survey if you want an 11 kW wallbox, and identify reliable public chargers along your regular motorway routes.
- Drive both. Test low-speed visibility, steering weight, ride over poor surfaces, rear-seat comfort, infotainment controls and driver-assistance behaviour. These characteristics are not established by the published specification table.
- Confirm availability. Get a written delivery estimate, vehicle identification or build status where possible, and the cancellation terms if the date moves.
- Check the contract. Ensure the quote states the battery, wheel size, charging equipment, paint, taxes, grant treatment and delivery charges. Keep the written specification with the order so a later change can be identified.
What the published specifications cannot answer
This is a specifications-led comparison, not an independent road test. The available material does not establish a winner for ride comfort, cabin noise, winter efficiency, motorway range, safety-test performance, reliability, charging-curve behaviour or long-term servicing costs. It also does not verify current dealer transaction prices, stock levels or delivery lead times.
That limitation matters because a compact electric SUV is a daily-use product. A car that looks superior in a table may be less suitable if its driving position, rear-seat space, software or local charging support does not fit your routine. Use the figures to narrow the shortlist, then validate the experience and the final contract with a dealer.

Verdict: Epiq for entry price, EV3 Long Range for maximum range
The Škoda Epiq is the sensible shortlist choice when keeping the purchase price and exterior footprint down comes first. The Kia EV3 Long Range is the better match when the main requirement is the longest official UK range and you are prepared to pay for its larger battery. The Epiq 55 and EV3 Standard Range deserve a direct configured-price comparison because their headline range is similar but their equipment and market pricing may differ.
Whichever direction you take, use the current manufacturer configurator and a written dealer quote immediately before ordering. Recheck grant eligibility, exact trim, wheel specification, charger compatibility and delivery timing; those details can change the value of an otherwise clear specification advantage.
Frequently Asked Questions
