Singer DLS Turbo is a personalized restoration service performed on a client-owned Porsche 911 Type 964. The 2026 Porsche 911 Turbo S is a new production car built by Porsche. Singer’s first announced DLS Turbo, named Sorcerer, uses a high-revving twin-turbo, rear-drive manual layout; Porsche’s current Turbo S uses a hybridized boxer engine, an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive.
The comparison below uses Singer’s Sorcerer announcement and Porsche’s current Turbo S information. Porsche’s technical sheet is a model-year-2025 document with European/German data, while Porsche Canada describes the car as a 2026 model and quotes horsepower in hp. Those source contexts and units matter: the figures are not results from a common independent test.

What the two names actually represent
Singer DLS Turbo is a commissioned restoration
Singer Vehicle Design does not sell the DLS Turbo as a new factory model. A client supplies an existing Porsche 911 Type 964 monocoque, and Singer restores, strengthens and re-engineers that car through its DLS Turbo services. The owner participates in the specification, so the finished vehicle is a bespoke commission rather than a standardized trim level.

Details of the service, including its price, total production volume, curb weight and general order status, are not stated in the cited announcement. A prospective owner would need to discuss eligibility of a particular Type 964 and the desired specification directly with Singer.
The Porsche is a current production model
Porsche’s current comparison point is the range-topping 911 Turbo S. The European technical document is labeled model year October 2025 and uses PS and metric data for Germany/EU markets. Porsche’s Canadian announcement calls the car a 2026 model, uses hp, quotes a Canadian starting price and gives a planned delivery timetable. Porsche notes that technical data can vary by country, so those documents should not be blended into one market-neutral specification.

Engine architecture: two very different answers to turbocharging
Singer’s air-cooled-cylinder, water-cooled-head flat-six
Singer says DLS Turbo uses a restored and developed 3.8-liter flat-six derived from the Type 964 engine. Its cylinder heads are water-cooled while the cylinders remain air-cooled, a hybrid approach that retains the visual and mechanical lineage of the older 911 while allowing tighter thermal control around the heads. An electrically powered horizontal fan supports cooling.
Two variable-geometry turbochargers are designed to provide a broad operating range while the engine continues to rev beyond 9,000 rpm, according to Singer. The company quotes 710 hp SAE Net and 750 Nm for Sorcerer. SAE Net is a U.S. measurement convention; it should not be silently treated as equivalent to Porsche’s PS or system-output figures.
Because DLS Turbo is a service applied to individual cars, Singer’s announcement does not establish that every future commission will have identical calibration, bodywork, interior specification or options. The published numbers belong to the announced Sorcerer specification.
Porsche’s T-Hybrid boxer powertrain
The Turbo S takes a modern electrification route. Porsche’s technical sheet describes a 3.6-liter boxer engine paired with two electric exhaust turbochargers and an electric motor integrated into the PDK. A compact 1.9 kWh battery operates at a stated 400-volt nominal voltage. The electric hardware can assist turbocharging and propulsion without adding a separate large battery pack intended for extended electric driving.

Porsche separates combustion-engine output from system output. The technical sheet lists 640 PS and 760 Nm for the engine alone, while the complete system is rated at 711 PS and 800 Nm. Porsche Canada expresses the system figure as 701 hp. PS and hp are different units, and the two published system figures describe approximately the same power level when converted; neither should be presented as an extra 10-unit performance advantage.

This distinction also explains why the Porsche’s headline output cannot be compared directly with Singer’s 710 hp SAE Net as if all three numbers came from one test protocol. They are manufacturer figures produced under different conventions and source documents.
Transmission and traction change the character of the cars
Manual rear-drive Singer
Singer specifies an optimized six-speed manual gearbox sending power to the rear wheels. The driver controls clutch engagement, gear selection and the timing of torque delivery. Rear-wheel drive also makes the original 964-based layout central to the experience, although the strengthened monocoque, modern controls and re-engineered engine move the car far beyond an unmodified period 911.
Singer says Sorcerer includes selectable drive modes plus Bosch-developed ABS, traction control and electronic stability control. Those systems are intended to add modern controllability without replacing the manual interaction that defines the drivetrain.
PDK all-wheel-drive Porsche
The Turbo S uses an eight-speed dual-clutch PDK and Porsche Traction Management all-wheel drive. The transmission can shift without a conventional clutch pedal, while the all-wheel-drive system distributes torque across the axles under the car’s electronic control strategy. This layout is engineered for repeatable launches, high-speed stability and broad usability rather than for reproducing the mechanical feel of a rear-drive manual 964.
The two drivetrains therefore answer different priorities. Singer emphasizes an owner-operated, analog control interface enhanced by modern safety electronics. Porsche integrates the gearbox, electric motor and all-wheel-drive system into one production-car performance system.

Structure, bodywork and the meaning of customization
Strengthened original monocoque
A DLS Turbo begins with a client’s Type 964 monocoque. Singer says the structure is strengthened during restoration, then clothed in carbon-fiber bodywork inspired by the Porsche 934.5 endurance racer. The result preserves the identity and proportions of the owner’s underlying 964 while replacing or reworking major systems.
This provenance is important when considering value and ownership. The vehicle is not a newly manufactured Porsche with a Singer badge; it is a rebuilt and personalized historic Porsche platform. The original donor car, the restoration scope and the client’s specification all influence what the finished car is.
Production 911 engineering
The Turbo S is assembled as a current Porsche model with a standardized engineering package, factory development process and model documentation. Porsche’s press material positions it as an all-rounder intended to cover daily use, long-distance travel and track driving. Individual options may be available through Porsche’s normal ordering process, but that is different from co-developing a one-off restoration around a specific donor monocoque.
Everyday use and intended mission
Singer’s published material concentrates on the DLS Turbo’s restoration philosophy, engine, manual drivetrain and owner collaboration. It does not provide the luggage capacity, fuel economy, weight, service schedule or other practical measurements needed to rank Sorcerer against a production 911 on those points. The sensible conclusion is that practicality will depend on the individual commission and donor car, not on a universal DLS Turbo trim sheet.
Porsche explicitly describes the Turbo S as balancing everyday use, long journeys and track performance. That statement is Porsche’s intended positioning, not an independent evaluation, but it explains why the car includes a hybrid powertrain, PDK automation and all-wheel drive. A buyer who needs a new-car warranty structure, a repeatable factory specification and a single dealer-supported model is looking at a fundamentally different ownership proposition from a commissioned restoration.

Porsche publishes a 0–100 km/h time of 2.5 seconds and a 322 km/h top speed for the 2026 model in its Canadian announcement. Porsche also reports a 7:03.92 Nürburgring Nordschleife lap by a lightly camouflaged pre-production/development car during final development drives in autumn 2024. That lap is a Porsche-reported development result, not an independent comparison with Sorcerer or a guarantee that every customer car will reproduce it.
Rank #4
- Collectable Scale Diecast Model
Singer’s DLS Turbo announcement gives output and torque but does not publish matching acceleration, top-speed or lap-time results. Without equivalent tests using the same tires, conditions, drivers and measurement standards, it is not valid to declare either car the faster one from the cited specifications alone. The Porsche’s published acceleration and lap time demonstrate what Porsche has chosen to document; the absence of Singer figures is not evidence that the Singer is slower.

Singer’s price is commission-specific
No DLS Turbo service price is stated in Singer’s announcement. Since the client supplies the Type 964 and participates in the restoration specification, the eventual cost would depend on the donor, engineering scope, materials and chosen finish. The source does not state a general production ceiling, a standard order queue or a universal delivery schedule, so none should be assumed.
Porsche’s Canadian launch information
Porsche Canada announced a starting price of C$289,300 for the coupe and said planned Canadian deliveries would begin in spring 2026. That is launch-market information from Porsche’s 2025 announcement, not a worldwide price or a guarantee of the price available at the time you order. Taxes, options, regional equipment and later pricing changes can alter the amount paid.
These are different purchasing decisions: Singer’s customer commissions work on an owned classic Porsche, while the Porsche buyer orders a current production car through the normal market. Comparing the headline prices without accounting for the donor vehicle and restoration scope would be misleading.

What the manufacturers say
Explaining Singer’s design goal, Singer Founder, Executive Chairman and Creative Director Rob Dickinson said: “With DLS Turbo we wanted to celebrate the 911’s evolution as an icon on both road and track and to explore the possibilities offered by turbocharging the remarkable engine developed through the DLS program.” Singer’s DLS Turbo announcement dates that statement to January 22, 2026.
Porsche’s Frank Moser, Vice President of the 911 and 718 model lines, describes the production car this way: “The 911 Turbo S is the most complete and versatile form of driving a Porsche 911. Whether for everyday use, on long autobahn journeys or on the racetrack – we have made the new 911 Turbo S even more comfortable, more individual and, at the same time, significantly faster than its predecessor.” This is Porsche’s executive characterization, published in the Porsche Newsroom press kit, rather than an independent assessment.
Bottom line
The Singer DLS Turbo and 2026 Porsche 911 Turbo S share a 911 family history but serve different purposes. Singer transforms an owner’s Type 964 into a bespoke, manual, rear-drive, high-revving twin-turbo restoration. Porsche sells a new Turbo S with a T-Hybrid boxer engine, electric turbochargers, PDK and all-wheel drive. The available sources establish their specifications and design intentions, but not a controlled head-to-head winner. Choose between them according to provenance, customization and mechanical involvement on one side, or new-car production engineering, documented launch performance and broad usability on the other.
