The Dendrobium was a Singapore-developed all-electric supercar concept unveiled at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Its signature feature was a roof and doors designed to open together like a flower. Vanda Electrics developed the concept with Williams Advanced Engineering as a technical partner; launch-era speed and power figures were reported targets, not verified production-car results.
What was the Dendrobium car?
The Dendrobium was an electric supercar concept created by Singapore company Vanda Electrics. The company presented it as a home-grown hypercar project, and Vanda chief executive Larissa Tan called it “the first Singaporean hypercar” and the culmination of the company’s design and technology expertise in comments reported by CNA on March 7, 2017. That was Tan’s characterization, not an independent technical classification.
Williams Advanced Engineering was identified as Vanda’s technical development partner. The Dendrobium was therefore a concept-car collaboration, not evidence that a production vehicle was engineered, certified or sold.
When was the Dendrobium unveiled?
The concept debuted at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. In March 2018, the National Museum of Singapore displayed it during Singapore Design Week; the National Heritage Board event listing records that public showcase and notes the earlier Geneva debut.

What made its design distinctive?
The concept’s roof and doors were designed to open together in a synchronized motion that evoked the opening of a dendrobium flower. The National Heritage Board’s description of the Singapore showcase identifies this flower-like movement as a defining feature. It was a visual and access concept, rather than a documented production mechanism.
What performance figures were announced?
Launch-era reports circulated ambitious numbers, but they should be read as contemporary claims or targets. CNA’s March 7, 2017 pre-show account said technical details were limited and relayed previously reported figures: four Yasa electric motors, 1,500 horsepower, 4,000 newton-meters of torque, 0–100 km/h in under 2.6 seconds, and a 400 km/h top speed. The report did not establish these as independently tested production specifications.

An earlier SGInnovate feature published January 23, 2017 described acceleration of under three seconds and a planned production run of 10–20 cars. Those are separate period claims and plans; they should not be combined with CNA’s figures into a definitive specification sheet. No verified outcome for cars built, delivered or sold is established by these accounts.

The sources documenting the 2017 concept and 2018 showcase do not verify that the Dendrobium entered production, was offered for sale, or remains available today. In a contemporaneous interview, Tan told Robb Report Singapore, “We probably won’t build more than 10 or 20.” That statement describes an ambition at the time, not proof that any cars were made. The project’s later status and any official merchandise are not established by these historical accounts.

The most accurate way to describe the Dendrobium is as a Singapore-developed electric supercar concept that reached public display, with performance and production figures reported as plans rather than confirmed outcomes.
