A 2025 Chevy Colorado may be the smarter buy—but only if a comparable truck is available for less after fees and incentives. Chevrolet lists a $31,900 starting MSRP for the 2025 model and $32,400 for the 2026, a $500 difference between starting figures, not guaranteed savings on an equivalent trim or a typical discount. Compare written, out-the-door quotes for the configuration you actually want before deciding.
What the published prices do—and don’t—tell you
Chevrolet’s 2025 Colorado page lists a starting MSRP of $31,900; its 2026 Colorado page lists $32,400. The $500 gap is between model-year starting prices. It does not establish the price difference between equivalent trims, what a dealer will charge, or how much a buyer can save.
Chevrolet directs shoppers to local inventory and dealer pricing rather than publishing a universal transaction price. The useful comparison is therefore between trucks with matching trim, packages, and equipment, using written quotes from dealers in your area.
Are the 2025 and 2026 Colorado comparable?
On Chevrolet’s model-year pages, the core published powertrain and capability figures match. The listed models and equipment still need a vehicle-by-vehicle check.

The towing number is a maximum available rating, not a promise that every Colorado can tow that amount. Actual capacity depends on the truck’s configuration and conditions. Likewise, the shared equipment descriptions do not confirm that every trim has identical equipment; verify the specific vehicle’s window sticker and configuration.
Chevrolet lists five models in its 2025 comparison and six in its 2026 comparison. That difference does not by itself show which configurations are new, available locally, or better value. Match the actual trim and packages rather than assuming the model-year names make two trucks equivalent.

How to decide which one is the better deal
- Choose the configuration first. Identify the trim, packages, and equipment you need. Check that a 2025 truck and a 2026 truck are genuinely comparable; do not use the starting MSRPs as a substitute for a trim-to-trim comparison.
- Get written quotes for both. Ask dealers for the out-the-door price on the exact vehicles, including taxes, registration, dealer fees, and any add-ons. Chevrolet’s dealer locator can help you find local dealers; check inventory and ask for the quote in writing.
- Separate price from financing. Compare the cash price and any available incentives separately from the financing offer. For loans, compare the amount financed, APR, term, and total payments. A lower monthly payment alone does not establish a lower total cost.
- Check what is included and available. Confirm equipment on the vehicle, whether any dealer-installed items are optional, and whether the truck is actually available. Compare warranty terms for the particular vehicles rather than assuming a model-year difference.
- Choose based on the final comparison. If a similarly equipped 2025 has a lower out-the-door price and meets your needs, it may be the better buy. If the 2026 quote is more favorable, or the 2025 truck lacks the trim or equipment you want, the older model year is not automatically the smarter choice.
When the 2025 is the smarter buy
The case for a 2025 is strongest when you find a specific remaining truck that matches the configuration you want and its written out-the-door quote is lower than a comparable 2026 quote. Availability and dealer pricing are local; Chevrolet’s published pages do not establish a typical discount or a universal amount buyers save.
Do not treat the $500 difference between starting MSRPs as a reason on its own to buy the 2025. It compares published entry prices, not equivalent vehicles, and says nothing about taxes, fees, incentives, or financing.

One practical check for bed-cover shoppers
Chevrolet’s 2025 page identifies a truck bed cover as an available accessory, not standard equipment. If cargo protection matters to your decision, confirm whether a cover is included in the quoted truck or priced separately. For any separately purchased cover, verify fitment for the Colorado’s model year and exact bed configuration before ordering.
