The 810-hp GT350 is Shelby American’s modified Ford Mustang, not a new Ford factory model. Shelby announced the 2025 GT350 and track-focused GT350R in January 2025. Shelby rates the supercharged GT350 at 810 hp and the GT350R at 830+ hp; those are separate configurations, and the figures are Shelby’s specifications rather than independently verified test results.
Who brought the GT350 back?
Shelby American announced the 2025 GT350 at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale, Arizona, on January 23, 2025. Shelby American is the announcing and modifying organization; the car is built on a Ford Mustang base. So the title’s distinction matters: this is a Shelby-modified Mustang, not a GT350 announced as a new Ford factory model. Shelby’s 2025 GT350 specifications describe the car and its equipment.
Shelby described the GT350 as a street car and the street-legal GT350R as track-ready, with components from its future Trans Am-spec race car. That is the manufacturer’s description, not a result from an independent road test.
How much horsepower do the GT350 and GT350R have?
The 2025 GT350 is listed in two outputs: 480 hp naturally aspirated, or 810 hp with a supercharger. For the latter, Shelby specifies a Gen 4 Ford Coyote 5.0-liter V8 paired with a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger. Shelby says its horsepower rating is based on 93-octane fuel.

The GT350R is rated at 830+ hp and is also supercharged. Its horsepower figure is likewise based on 93-octane fuel, according to Shelby’s GT350R specifications. These are manufacturer-stated ratings; the available source material does not establish independent dyno results.
What is different about the GT350R?
The R is the more track-oriented variant, with hardware beyond the GT350’s street-focused equipment. Shelby limits GT350R production to 36 cars. Its listed equipment includes an extreme cooling system, Borla side exhaust, extreme-duty half shafts, a short-throw shifter, adjustable JRI race struts and shocks with remote reservoirs, chassis stiffening, Forgeline racing wheels, performance tires, a four-point cage, and ProSystems Alcon front and rear brakes.

Optional equipment listed by Shelby includes heritage graphics, Sparco racing seats and harnesses, and an AiM Solo 2 lap timer. The GT350, by contrast, has a Shelby by Borla cat-back exhaust, lowering springs, front and rear sway bars, 20-inch flow-forged wheels, performance tires, a deep-draw aluminum hood, and a rear ducktail spoiler, among other trim and branding details.

What does the current 2026 GT350 listing add?
Shelby’s 2026 GT350 brochure lists a 5.0-liter V8 in 480-hp naturally aspirated and up-to-810-hp supercharged configurations. It says the car is based on a 2026 Mustang GT Fastback with the Performance Package and Active Exhaust. This is a separate model-year reference; the 2025 starting price above should not be treated as a 2026 price.

It notes that fuel standards and octane ratings may differ internationally. In green states, the supercharger is not included and must be purchased and installed separately after the vehicle is titled. Shelby also warns that equipment may void the factory powertrain warranty. Consult the 2026 Shelby GT350 brochure and confirm the applicable configuration and terms with Shelby or the seller before purchase.

- State-specific supercharger availability: For the 2026 brochure’s green-state caveat, determine whether the supercharger is included or requires separate post-title purchase and installation.
- Warranty coverage: Compare Shelby’s limited warranty with any Ford factory coverage and obtain the terms for the exact vehicle and equipment in writing.
- GT350R availability: Shelby states a production limit of 36, but the cited page does not establish current inventory or a current price.
