Segway unveiled two different electric vehicles in July 2024: the ZT3 Pro electric scooter, with a reported China starting price of 3,399 yuan (about $468 at the time), and the Xyber electric bike, starting at 9,999 yuan. The 3,399-yuan figure applies to the scooter—not both products—and both prices are historical launch prices, not current retail quotes.
What Segway unveiled—and what the 3,399-yuan price covers
At a July 18, 2024 event, Segway introduced the ZT3 Pro e-scooter and Xyber e-bike. Gizmochina’s contemporaneous coverage reported China starting prices of 3,399 yuan for the ZT3 Pro and 9,999 yuan for the Xyber. The dollar equivalent of about $468 was reported at the time; it should not be read as a current exchange-rate conversion or price in another market. Gizmochina’s July 2024 launch report.
The distinction matters: the ZT3 Pro is a stand-up scooter, while the Xyber is a seated e-bike. The launch prices were reported for China, and the available evidence does not establish current prices or stock in any market.
ZT3 Pro speed and range depend on the version
Segway’s September 2024 US announcement describes a US-exclusive ZT3 Pro edition with a higher top speed than the global counterpart. It lists a top speed of up to 24.9 mph, with manufacturer-claimed range of up to 43.5 miles in Eco mode or 18.6 miles in Sport mode. These are US-edition figures, not universal specifications. Segway’s product specification page for model 051801A lists approximately 25 km/h maximum speed, up to 70 km range, and approximately 50 km range at maximum speed. Those figures belong to the model listed on that page and should not be combined with the US edition’s speed or range. What the ZT3 Pro specifications say
For model 051801A, Segway lists 650 W nominal and 1,600 W maximum power, with 597 Wh nominal energy. The manufacturer also specifies dual front telescopic suspension and rear spring suspension, 11-inch all-road tubeless tires, rear-wheel drive, and front and rear disc brakes. Segway’s US announcement additionally describes six inches of ground clearance, traction control, an LCD display and a 65.5 lb weight with a 265 lb payload for its US edition. Because those figures describe a market-specific version, do not substitute them for the 051801A specification-page values.
How the Xyber differs from the scooter
The Xyber is a separate electric-bike product, not a higher-priced ZT3 Pro trim. Gizmochina’s July 2024 China launch coverage described it with a 400 W brushless motor, a 48 V 30 Ah lithium battery, front and rear disc brakes, adjustable suspension and a 2.4-inch full-color display. Segway’s January 8, 2025 US announcement said the Xyber and Xafari were its first two e-bikes, with pre-orders through Segway’s store and independent dealers and expected delivery in February.
