Yes—Segway took its X1000 electric dirt-bike prototype to Dakar in 2025. It entered three bikes in Dakar Future Mission 1000, an alternative-energy challenge, where Segway riders finished third, fourth and fifth. They did not race in Dakar’s conventional motorcycle classification.
What Segway entered at Dakar
The Dakar project was the X1000, an electric dirt-bike prototype developed for the 2025 edition. Segway entered three bikes in Future Mission 1000. In a December 2024 preview, Dakar organizer Amaury Sport Organisation (A.S.O.) said a 50-person team designed the X1000 and gave its top speed as 140 km/h. What Mission 1000 means—and what it does not
Mission 1000 is Dakar’s alternative-energy challenge, distinct from the conventional motorcycle race. Dakar says eligible projects can be fully electric, hydrogen-powered or hybrid, with applications assessed by the organizer. That category distinction matters when describing Segway’s result: the riders’ positions were in the Mission 1000 classification, not overall Dakar motorcycle-race standings.

How Segway finished in the 2025 challenge

The X1000 prototype is not the Xaber 300
Segway later connected the Dakar prototype to a consumer product: in May 2026, the company said its Xaber 300 was inspired by the X1000 and had begun reaching select U.S. dealers. That establishes a design relationship, not that the Xaber 300 itself raced Dakar. Segway’s Xaber 300 announcement

Dakar’s official Stage 6 Mission 1000 classification for 2026 also lists Segway Team entries. That shows participation during the edition, but a Stage 6 classification is not a final result. 2026 Stage 6 Mission 1000 classification
