What the Russian electric trike looks like
Bryan Cockfield’s Hackaday report, published July 28, 2019, describes a one-off electric trike built by Aleksey Ranger. Is it legal to ride?
There is no general answer based on the Hackaday article. E-bike and vehicle rules depend on jurisdiction and classification, and the article supplies no official legal citation. Ranger wrote in his July 29, 2019 comment: “This car full legal in Russia if have 25KPH limit, or you need to have any driver license to drive faster.” That is the builder’s statement, not an independently verified account of Russian law, and it does not establish the rules in force now or in another country. To determine whether a similar build can be used on public roads, check current official rules where you live. The relevant classification may depend on details such as its design and speed capability; do not assume that calling it an e-bike or limiting its speed automatically makes it road-legal.
What specifications are actually documented?
The article is a feature about a custom build, not a technical spec sheet. It documents the frame layout and front suspension concept, but not the parts and measurements needed to reproduce the vehicle or confirm its performance.
