Roland Sands Design built a one-off Indian Sport Scout for Twenty One Pilots drummer Josh Dun, blending Scout heritage with components and attitude drawn from Indian’s FTR and flat-track racing. The custom, named the Bandito Scout by RSD, was the first reveal in Indian Motorcycle’s 2024 FORGED Scout series—not a factory Sport Scout configuration.
Which Indian Scout did Josh Dun get?
The motorcycle is a custom built from a 2025 Indian Sport Scout. Indian’s July 10, 2024 announcement calls it the “RSD Indian Scout,” while RSD calls its build the “Bandito Scout.” Those are names for this project, not a separate production model. Indian Motorcycle’s announcement and RSD’s build article describe the reveal and the bike’s design.
What FTR parts and other changes are on the bike?
Indian says RSD adapted FTR front forks and triple clamps to the Sport Scout, then modified the rear to accept an FTR swingarm. The build also has dual front discs with radial-mount Brembo calipers, Indian piggyback shocks and a Brembo rear caliper. These are details of a custom adaptation; the announcement does not establish that the parts directly fit a standard production Scout.
RSD additionally describes 17-inch wheels, a custom titanium exhaust, and a redesigned rear subframe and tail section. Black-and-yellow styling completes the build. The combination gives the Scout a more performance-oriented, flat-track-influenced look without making it an FTR: it remains a custom Sport Scout at its base.

Why did RSD build it this way?
The concept pairs Scout history with RSD’s experience in flat-track racing and FTR-based machines. Indian says the team took Ed “Iron Man” Kretz as its historical inspiration and imagined what he might build today: a rowdy race bike adapted for the street.
RSD founder Roland Sands described the approach as elevating a motorcycle and turning cruisers into sport bikes. Indian identifies Sands and lead fabricator Aaron Boss as the builders who presented the Scout to Dun. On seeing it, Dun said, “Wow. This thing’s perfect. The colours are perfect.” Boss said his reason for building bikes was “to excite other people.” The remarks appear in Indian’s announcement.

Where does the build fit in Indian’s FORGED series?
The RSD Scout was the first of three custom motorcycles in Indian Motorcycle’s 2024 FORGED Scout series. Each project used a different builder and design reference, rather than presenting a technical package available to customers:

Is the Bandito Scout available to buy?
The announcement presents the motorcycle as a custom project built for Dun, not as a production trim or a parts package offered for sale. Its FTR-derived fork, triple clamps and swingarm were adapted for this build; their presence does not demonstrate stock-model compatibility. Riders considering similar parts should verify fitment and any required fabrication with the relevant manufacturer or a qualified motorcycle specialist.
