Rivian revealed the R3X on March 7, 2024, describing it as the performance variant of its R3 midsize crossover, with greater dynamic ability on and off road. The company has not provided a production specification sheet, price, or firm delivery date in the official materials cited here. The clearest confirmed details are its positioning, its place after R2 in Rivian’s launch sequence, and the company’s plan to price it below R2.
What is the Rivian R3X?
Rivian introduced R3 and R3X alongside R2 as vehicles built on its new midsize platform. It called R3 a midsize crossover and R3X its performance variant, intended to offer greater dynamic ability both on and off road. The reveal establishes a product direction, not a complete production-car specification. The company materials cited here do not give final R3X dimensions, battery, range, power, or acceleration figures.
Rivian R3X specs: what has and has not been announced
There are no confirmed production R3X figures for battery capacity, driving range, output, 0–60 mph time, or vehicle dimensions in the cited official materials. R2 figures should not be treated as R3X specifications: Rivian’s Q1 2024 shareholder letter discussed an R2 starting price of around $45,000, more than 300 miles of range for the larger R2 battery, and under three seconds from 0–60 mph for the quickest R2 powertrain configuration. Rivian founder and CEO RJ Scaringe said at the reveal: “I have never been more excited to launch new products – R2 and R3 are distinctly Rivian in terms of performance, capability, and usability, yet with pricing that makes them accessible to a lot of people.” The statement addresses R2 and R3 broadly; it does not specify R3X performance or price.
When will the Rivian R3X come out?
Rivian said R3 and R3X deliveries would begin after R2, explaining that the sequence would support a smoother R2 launch and production ramp. Its Q1 2024 shareholder letter said R2 production was slated to begin in the first half of 2026. That was a historical expectation for R2, not a firm R3X delivery date. The cited materials do not establish when R3X production or customer deliveries will start.

How much will the Rivian R3X cost?
Rivian said R3 and R3X would be priced below R2, but did not announce an R3X MSRP.
