Rivian’s March 2026 U.S. lineup recap lists a $57,990 R2 Performance with Launch Package for spring 2026 and a $48,490 Standard Long Range for the first half of 2027. Rivian’s general R2 page separately displays a $53,990 starting price and “Late 2026,” so the figure and timing depend on which official listing you mean.
Rivian R2 prices and expected timing
Rivian’s March 2026 recap lays out three configurations for the U.S. market. Its prices are starting prices, not final out-the-door totals.
| Configuration | Starting price | Expected timing | Drivetrain and stated performance |
|---|---|---|---|
| R2 Performance with Launch Package | $57,990 | Spring 2026 | Not stated in the recap details summarized here. |
| R2 Standard Long Range | $48,490 | First half of 2027 | Single-motor rear-wheel drive; Rivian states 350 horsepower and up to 345 miles of range. |
| Additional R2 Standard variant | Around $45,000 | Late 2027 | Not stated in the recap details summarized here. |
Prices, launch windows, horsepower and range in this table are Rivian’s statements in its March 2026 lineup recap. The range is an “up to” manufacturer figure, not an independently verified test result. Rivian’s official R2 page currently shows “Starting at $53,990” and “Late 2026.” That page display differs from the detailed trim-and-timing breakdown; treat each as a distinct official statement rather than combining them into one offer.
What the $45,000 starting price means
The approximately $45,000 figure applies to a further Standard variant that Rivian expects in late 2027. It is the lowest announced starting price in the detailed lineup, but it is scheduled after the Performance and Standard Long Range configurations. It does not mean every R2 costs $45,000, or that this later variant is available now.

Why older R2 coverage gave a different timeline
At the R2 reveal in March 2024, Rivian said pricing was expected to start around $45,000 and deliveries were expected to begin in the first half of 2026. Those were the company’s expectations at the time, documented in its 2024 R2 reveal exhibit filed with the SEC. The March 2026 recap places the approximately $45,000 Standard variant in late 2027, following higher-priced configurations. The earlier estimate should not be read as the launch timing for the currently described $45,000 version.
What is known about the Standard Long Range
Rivian describes the R2 as an all-electric midsize SUV with two rows and seating for five. For the $48,490 Standard Long Range, the March 2026 recap identifies a single-motor, rear-wheel-drive setup and lists 350 horsepower and up to 345 miles of range. Those figures are manufacturer claims; the published information cited here does not establish independent test results.

What a starting price does—and does not—tell you
The announced starting prices do not establish a buyer’s final cost. Rivian’s cited information does not specify an out-the-door total, local taxes, incentive eligibility or financing cost. Those amounts can depend on location and purchase details, so a starting price should not be treated as a personalized quote.
