Yes. The all-electric Dodge Charger Daytona uses Dodge’s Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust to produce a deliberately generated, V8-like sound. It has no V8 engine and no conventional exhaust. The Charger name now covers more than one powertrain: Daytona models are battery-electric, while SIXPACK models use a gasoline 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged Hurricane straight-six.
How does the Charger Daytona make its V8-like sound?
Dodge calls the system the Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust, but “exhaust” is branding, not a description of combustion gases leaving the car. The 2024 owner’s manual describes an amplifier and tuning chamber at the rear of the vehicle. Dodge’s later overview says two passive radiators create the sound profile. In other words, the noise is made by a sound system rather than a V8 firing. Dodge’s Charger overview and the Mopar owner’s manual describe the feature and its operation.
Car and Driver characterized a production-spec sound clip as synthetic but V8-like in its August 2024 report. That is a description of the clip, not a measured assessment of every car or driving condition. Car and Driver’s report also noted a reported Stealth mode.
Can you turn off or change the sound?
Yes. The 2024 Charger Daytona owner’s manual says drivers can enable or disable the sound and customize sound types through Uconnect. Controls can vary by model year, so consult the manual for the specific car rather than assuming every later Daytona has identical menu labels or behavior.
Is the new Dodge Charger electric or gas?
It depends on the version. The eighth-generation Charger is a multi-energy family: the Daytona is electric, and the SIXPACK is gasoline-powered with a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged Hurricane straight-six. That means a Charger badge alone does not identify the powertrain or explain the source of the car’s sound. Dodge’s current lineup overview distinguishes the two.
What are the Charger Daytona’s performance and range claims?
For the 2026 Daytona Scat Pack launch, Stellantis North America listed 670 horsepower, a claimed 0–60 mph time of 3.3 seconds, and maximum range of 241 miles. These are manufacturer claims, not independent test results. The launch covered both two-door coupe and four-door sedan versions and said the Fratzonic system was standard. Does the production Charger Daytona reach 126 dB?
That figure should not be presented as a confirmed production-car measurement. The 126 dB figure came from concept-era coverage; in August 2024, Car and Driver said it was unclear whether production sound would reach that level. Its report does not establish a verified production decibel figure. Car and Driver’s report provides that qualification.
