A refreshed Mercedes-AMG CLE Convertible prototype has been photographed during winter testing, according to a February 20, 2026 report by Autoblog. The images hint at front-end revisions, but Mercedes-Benz has not confirmed the refresh, its final design, a V8 engine or a debut date.
What does the refreshed AMG CLE Convertible look like?
Autoblog’s Sebastian Cenizo described the test car as wearing an AMG-style vertical center grille, lower side intakes, a chin spoiler and AMG wheels. Those are observations from spy photos, not an official description of the production car.
The report expects the headlights to gain three-pointed-star daytime running light signatures. It says the prototype’s taillights were exposed and its rear fender appeared unchanged, while anticipating that the taillights could be revised later. The anticipated lighting changes remain predictions, not confirmed design details. Autoblog’s February 20, 2026 report also does not establish cabin or infotainment changes.
Is the 2027 AMG CLE Convertible getting a V8?
There is no confirmation of a V8 in the cited sources. Autoblog says the convertible prototype does not visibly prove that it has one; the possibility is an inference tied to other CLE reporting, not a Mercedes-AMG announcement. The current U.S.-listed AMG CLE 53 Cabriolet instead uses a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six with an electric auxiliary compressor and hybrid assist, but that specification describes the current car—not the refreshed prototype.

What the current AMG CLE 53 Cabriolet offers
Mercedes-Benz USA’s current listing is a useful reference point, not a preview of refreshed-model specifications. It gives the U.S.-market AMG CLE 53 Cabriolet 443 hp, 413 lb-ft of torque and an estimated 0–60 mph time of 4.2 seconds. The listing shows a price of $85,700; price and availability can change, so check the manufacturer’s current AMG CLE Cabriolet page for the latest listing.
The current model’s convertible features include a triple-layer power soft top, AIRCAP wind management, AIRSCARF neck-level heating and AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive. Mercedes-Benz USA describes the neck-level heating this way: “AIRSCARF® can circulate warm air from beneath the front head restraints, like a virtual scarf.” These features are current-model context only; they do not establish what will be retained or changed in a refresh.

When will the refreshed CLE Convertible debut?
Autoblog forecast a debut in late 2026 or early 2027. That is the report’s expectation, not a confirmed Mercedes-Benz timetable. The cited sources do not establish an exact debut date, market availability, refreshed-model price or production specifications.
