As of October 8, 2026, Rivian lists three US-market R2 trims: Standard starts at $44,990 and is listed for 2027; Premium starts at $53,990 and is listed for late 2026; and Performance starts at $57,990 and is available now. The biggest choice is whether you want the lower-priced rear-wheel-drive Standard or the added all-wheel-drive capability and equipment of Premium and Performance. Prices and timing can change, so confirm the live configuration and your personal estimate with Rivian’s R2 page and your Rivian Account.
How the R2 trims compare
Rivian’s published figures distinguish the trims on price, drivetrain, performance and equipment. Range, power and acceleration below are manufacturer claims, not independent test results. Rivian says prices exclude applicable taxes and fees, and selected options can affect capability.
| Trim | US starting price and listed timing | Drivetrain | Range, power and acceleration | Equipment and capability |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | $44,990; 2027 | Single-motor rear-wheel drive | 275 miles estimated; 350 hp; 0–60 mph in 5.9 seconds | Standard interior and audio; 19-inch all-season wheels; 3,500 lb towing and 1,102 lb payload |
| Premium | $53,990; late 2026 | Dual-motor all-wheel drive | 330 miles EPA-estimated; 450 hp; 0–60 mph in 4.6 seconds | Premium interior with wood accents, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, premium audio, rear drop glass and adaptive/matrix lighting; 4,400 lb towing and 1,168 lb payload |
| Performance | $57,990; available now | Dual-motor all-wheel drive | 330 miles EPA-estimated; 656 hp; 0–60 mph in 3.6 seconds | Premium equipment and semi-active suspension; 21-inch all-season wheels, with 20-inch all-terrain wheels optional; 4,400 lb towing and 1,168 lb payload |
Rivian cautions that some range figures are preliminary estimates. Tires, drive modes, HVAC use, accessories and driving conditions can affect the range you get. The company’s March 2026 announcement says these figures and prices apply to US-market vehicles; it said Canadian specifications, packages and prices would follow closer to launch. Which R2 trim makes sense for you?
Choose Standard for the lower entry price
Standard is the only single-motor, rear-wheel-drive trim in the listed lineup. It costs $9,000 less than Premium at their current listed starting prices, but gives up the second motor, the Premium trim’s listed equipment and its higher towing and payload figures. Its 275-mile range is an estimate, not a guarantee of everyday range.

Choose Premium for AWD and comfort features
Premium adds dual-motor all-wheel drive and the listed premium interior, audio, lighting and rear drop-glass features. Rivian lists 330 miles of EPA-estimated range, 4,400 lb of towing and 1,168 lb of payload. Its listed price is $4,000 below Performance, with lower stated power and slower acceleration.
Choose Performance for the strongest stated acceleration
Performance is the top-output trim: Rivian lists 656 hp and 0–60 mph in 3.6 seconds, along with semi-active suspension. It has the same listed 330-mile EPA-estimated range, towing and payload as Premium. Its 21-inch all-season wheels are standard; 20-inch all-terrain wheels are optional. The published figures do not establish how either wheel setup will affect real-world range.

When can you order and take delivery?
Rivian says US deliveries have begun, with order invitations sent in rolling waves. Its May 27, 2026 announcement said invitations would begin rolling out June 9. Reservation timestamp and delivery location were primary factors in invite timing; existing R1 ownership and expiring leases were among other factors. Your Rivian Account displays an estimated invitation window, which is more useful for your situation than a general rollout announcement.
After you confirm a build, Rivian’s August 7, 2026 ownership guide says most customers take delivery within four to eight weeks. That is a general estimate, not a promise for a particular configuration or location; check your account for your current delivery estimate. Rivian also says customers can schedule demo drives at Rivian Spaces across the US, subject to current appointments.

- Get up to 25 miles of range per hour for R1S and R1T, and 38 miles of range per hour for R2*
- Compatible with Model Year 2026+ Rivian vehicles
- WiFi-connected for software updates
- Charging speeds vary based on various factors, including battery type, battery capacity, charging power source, battery state of charge, temperature, charger capacity, weather, site-specific conditions and more. Stated speeds reflect optimal conditions.
What does an invitation mean, and how long do you have?
Rivian’s published ordering guidance says invitations are issued in waves and that your account shows an estimated invitation window. The cited guidance does not establish a universal response deadline for every invite. When yours arrives, check its terms and the options shown in your account rather than assuming the same window applies to every customer.
What if you want Premium or Standard?
Rivian’s announced sequence was Performance first, followed by Premium in late 2026 and Standard in 2027. If your preferred trim is not currently available to configure, use the account and live configurator for its current availability rather than treating the published timing as a guaranteed delivery date.

Plan home charging before delivery
Rivian says R2 has a native NACS charging port and identifies its Rivian Wall Charger for home charging. Rivian claims the Wall Charger can add up to 38 miles of range per hour under optimal conditions; that is not a guaranteed rate. Battery state, temperature, charger capacity, weather and site conditions affect charging. Rivian recommends ordering a home charger early and arranging installation with a licensed electrician.

Check parking space and useful accessories
Rivian lists the R2 at 185.9 inches long. Measure garage clearance—including room to walk around the vehicle and open doors—before delivery. Its ownership guide names a front sunshade and all-weather floor mats as accessories owners may want to prepare in advance.
Know what the app handles
Rivian directs owners to its app for keyless access and charging and climate controls. Make sure you can access your Rivian Account and app as delivery approaches, since the account is also where Rivian presents invitation and delivery estimates.
What the published numbers do—and do not—tell you
The prices, range, output, acceleration, dimensions and capacities above are Rivian-published product information. They help compare the configurations, but they are not independent road-test results. Range estimates may be preliminary, and actual capability depends on trim and options. Driver-assistance features support the driver; Rivian says they do not replace attention or control. Confirm current specifications and terms in the R2 configurator before ordering.
