Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteNo—not on their own. The 2025 U.S. Volkswagen ID. Buzz makes a stronger case when its retro-modern design comes with something you’ll use every day: a spacious six- or seven-seat cabin and practical van-style people-moving capacity. Its launch price was substantial, and its EPA-estimated range of 231–234 miles asks more planning of drivers who regularly take long trips. Whether it’s worth considering depends on how much you value the design, passenger space and your charging routine—not nostalgia alone.
What did the 2025 ID. Buzz cost at launch?
Volkswagen’s U.S. technical sheets, dated October 23, 2024, list these 2025 total MSRPs, including destination:
| 2025 U.S. trim | Total MSRP at launch, including destination | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Pro S | $61,545, including $1,550 destination | Volkswagen of America technical data, October 23, 2024 |
| 1st Edition, rear-wheel drive | $67,045, including destination | Volkswagen of America technical data, October 23, 2024 |
| 1st Edition with 4MOTION | $71,545, including destination | Volkswagen of America technical data, October 23, 2024 |
These are historical launch MSRPs, not current dealer quotes. Volkswagen says the figures exclude taxes, title, other options and dealer charges, and that dealers set actual prices. The current U.S. newsroom has surfaced model-year 2027 references, but final U.S. specifications, MSRP and retail availability were not established in the available information. Check current listings, incentives and official model-year pricing before treating the launch figures as a present-day offer. Volkswagen of America newsroom
What does the price buy besides the styling?
Room for people
The U.S. 2025 lineup offers six- and seven-seat configurations. Pro S has a second-row bench and seven seats; 1st Edition and Pro S Plus use second-row captain’s chairs and seat six. In an Edmunds comparison distributed by the Associated Press, reviewers reported generous headroom and legroom for tall passengers across all three rows, with cargo capacity comparable to minivans and large SUVs. That passenger-first packaging is the practical counterweight to paying for a distinctive look. Edmunds comparison via Associated Press

Cargo space depends on the seating setup
Volkswagen lists a maximum of 145.5 cubic feet of cargo capacity with the second row folded and the third row removed. That is not the space available with every passenger seat in use. Tom’s Guide described the trunk as tight, reflecting the trade-off in a vehicle designed to prioritize passenger room. The two observations concern different configurations and perspectives, so neither maximum cargo capacity nor the tight-trunk impression tells the whole story by itself. Volkswagen’s 2025 ID. Range and charging shape everyday usefulness
Volkswagen of America states: “Depending on vehicle trim level and driving conditions, the EPA-estimated driving range of the 2025 Volkswagen ID. Buzz is 231 to 234 miles per charge.” That is the manufacturer’s EPA-estimated range, not a promise of the distance every driver will get. For daily use, it may be sufficient; frequent long journeys or inconvenient charging stops make the relatively limited range more consequential.

Volkswagen says DC fast charging can take the battery from 10% to 80% in as little as 26 minutes. For home charging, it estimates up to about nine hours from empty with a 240-volt, 11-kW Level 2 charger. Those figures describe different charging contexts and starting points; whether charging is convenient depends on access to a suitable home, workplace or public charger. In a week-long 2025 Pro S Plus 4MOTION road test covering 270 miles, Tom’s Guide reported an average of 3 miles per kilowatt-hour. That is one reviewer’s result for that vehicle and test, not a universal efficiency figure or replacement for the EPA range estimate. Tom’s Guide, May 17, 2025

How much value does the design add?
The ID. Buzz’s retro-modern appearance is more than a styling detail for buyers who want a vehicle that feels distinctive. Tom’s Guide called the design a standout and reported that it drew substantial public attention during its test. Those reactions support treating the look as a genuine subjective benefit—but they cannot establish that the price is objectively justified for every buyer, or offset a range or cargo trade-off that matters to a particular household.
A more useful test is whether the design accompanies features you will regularly use. If you need a roomy three-row vehicle, value the van-like layout and enjoy the styling, the emotional appeal comes with meaningful passenger utility. If you mainly want an EV for long-distance travel, or would rarely use the extra seating space, appearance has to carry more of the value argument.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How does it compare with a three-row EV alternative?
Edmunds’ comparison lists a 2025 starting price of $77,700 for the Rivian R1S, a three-row EV with a different, SUV-style format. That dated comparison places the Buzz below the R1S’s listed starting price, but it does not establish that the Buzz is the cheapest or best family EV across the market. The vehicles’ formats differ, and the R1S figure is not a current price quote. Edmunds comparison via Associated Press

Who is the 2025 ID. Buzz worth considering for?
- A good fit to investigate: You value the design, regularly carry several passengers, can make use of the six- or seven-seat layout, and have a charging routine that suits the vehicle’s range.
- A harder case to make: Your household often takes long trips, charging stops would be inconvenient, you need substantial cargo room with every seat occupied, or you would pay mainly for the looks without using the passenger space.
- Before deciding: Compare the actual vehicle’s seat configuration and cargo needs, plan a representative trip around charging access, and check current local pricing rather than relying on 2025 launch MSRP.
