Renault’s production Twingo E-Tech electric starts at €19,490 for the Evolution trim and €21,090 for Techno, before government incentives. That makes the original below-€20,000 target a reality for the entry trim at its announced list price—not a guaranteed final price in every country or for every buyer. Renault lists a 27.5 kWh LFP battery, a 60 kW (82 hp) motor and WLTP range of up to 263 km. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent real-world test results.
From 2024 prototype to production car
The October 2024 headline was about a prototype and Renault’s target price, not a car buyers could then order. Renault subsequently announced production versions, specifications and prices in December 2025. The production car keeps the Twingo name and the small-electric-car brief, but show-car details should not be assumed to have carried over unchanged: Renault documented design revisions as the car moved from prototype to production development.
The 2024 show car looked back to the first-generation Twingo, which debuted in 1992. New Atlas noted its rounded lighting cues, short hood, tall hatchback shape, heritage-inspired central door handles and glass roof. Those observations describe the show car, not a definitive list of production equipment. New Atlas’s October 2024 prototype coverage captures that early design context.
Production prices and order timing
Renault announced these prices in December 2025, before government grants. The French tariff list effective 1 April 2026 shows the same amounts before options and incentives, but that French document is not a global price list.

| Trim | Announced price before grants | Notable equipment |
|---|---|---|
| Evolution | €19,490 | Sliding rear seats, 7-inch driver display, 10-inch central screen with smartphone replication and connected multimedia, cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance, driver monitoring, rear parking sensors, manual air conditioning and a Mode 3 cable. |
| Techno | €21,090 | Includes OpenR Link with Google built in, one-pedal driving, adaptive cruise control and a reversing camera, among other equipment. |
Renault’s December 2025 announcement said eligible French buyers might qualify for 2026 aid, with the amount depending on household category. That does not establish a universal subsidized price: incentives depend on country, eligibility and rules in force when you buy. Check current local offers, configuration and dealer availability rather than treating the list price as the amount every buyer will pay.
Renault announced Techno R Pass access from 16 December 2025 and general public Techno ordering from 8 January 2026; Evolution orders were planned for spring 2026. Those are announced ordering milestones, not confirmation of present stock or delivery dates. Ask a dealer in your market for current order status and lead times.

Range, battery and motor
Renault lists a 60 kW (82 hp) motor, 27.5 kWh battery and range of up to 263 km. Renault’s 2026 product material identifies the battery chemistry as LFP and the range figure as WLTP. WLTP is a standardized rating; it is not a promise of the distance a driver will cover in everyday conditions. The sources available here do not establish an independent road-test range figure.
Charging: what is standard and what costs extra
Both trims include a 6.6 kW AC charger. Renault offers an optional Advanced Charge pack that adds an 11 kW bidirectional AC charger and 50 kW DC charging. The pack also enables vehicle-to-load (V2L), with Renault quoting up to 3,700 W through a power-to-object adapter, and Renault describes vehicle-to-grid (V2G) functionality. Confirm pack availability and configuration in your country before ordering.

Renault quotes an estimated 4 hours 15 minutes for charging from 10% to 100% on 6.6 kW AC, and 30 minutes from 10% to 80% on 50 kW DC. Both figures are estimates pending homologation, rather than guaranteed charging times in every condition.
Which trim makes more sense?
Choose Evolution if the entry price matters most
Evolution is the version that meets Renault’s below-€20,000 target at its announced pre-incentive list price. It already includes a substantial driver-assistance set, a central screen with smartphone replication, sliding rear seats, air conditioning and the standard charging cable. If you want the optional faster AC and DC charging hardware, verify the Advanced Charge pack’s local price and availability.

Consider Techno for its added convenience features
Techno costs €1,600 more than Evolution at the announced list prices. Its named upgrades include Google built into OpenR Link, one-pedal driving, adaptive cruise control and a reversing camera. Whether those additions justify the difference depends on your use and the equipment actually offered in your market.

Renault CEO Fabrice Cambolive framed the project as an effort to offer a small electric car below €20,000 without giving up European production, the brand’s decarbonization path or customer value. That is Renault’s stated goal, not an independent finding about affordability, environmental impact or customer response. Renault says the production Twingo E-Tech electric is built in Novo Mesto, Slovenia.

The practical takeaway is narrower and more useful: Renault announced a production Evolution trim below €20,000 before grants, while the higher Techno trim is above that threshold. The price a buyer can actually secure depends on market, incentives, options and local availability. Renault’s announced WLTP range and charging figures offer a starting point for comparison, but they should not be confused with independent performance testing.
