Sliding the bench by up to 16 cm lets you trade rear passenger space for luggage room.
How much boot space does the Renault Symbioz hybrid have?
Renault UK’s current dimensions page lists these capacities for the Symbioz E-Tech full hybrid, accessed 4 October 2026:

These are Renault’s published figures, not independent measurements. The 492-litre figure describes the bench in its rearward position; 624 litres is available when it is moved forward. The larger capacity therefore comes at the expense of some rear passenger room. Renault does not state that the forward position preserves the same knee room as the rearward one. Why Renault also quotes different VDA figures
Renault UK’s 2026 brochure gives VDA-standard equivalents for the E-Tech full hybrid: 434 dm³ with the bench rearward, 548 dm³ forward and 1,498 dm³ folded. Renault explains that VDA volume is measured using standardized blocks of 200 × 100 × 50 mm, each representing 1 dm³. These standardized figures are a separate measurement basis from the headline litre capacities on Renault’s dimensions page; don’t treat the two sets as interchangeable. (Renault UK 2026 brochure)

Does the Symbioz have sliding rear seats?
Yes. Renault says the rear bench slides by up to 16 cm. With the bench at the back, passengers get more of the available rear space; moving it forward creates more room for luggage. Renault’s UK dimensions page separately claims 22 cm of rear knee space, but that manufacturer figure is not an independent comfort assessment and should not be read as proof of adult comfort in every seating position.
The practical choice depends on the journey: leave the bench rearward when passenger space matters most, or slide it forward when you need the extra capacity and the people in back can accommodate the reduced space. What is the boot like with the rear seats folded?
Renault Group’s 2024 media information describes a flat boot floor without a loading lip and gives a load length of 1.68 m with the rear bench folded. These are manufacturer descriptions and figures, rather than independent measurements. Renault’s user manual says that folding the rear bench backrest flattens the floor and that the boot can be divided into two separate storage areas. The stated load length alone does not establish whether a particular pram, bicycle or suitcase will fit: Renault’s cited information here does not give the boot’s load width or opening height. Check the item’s dimensions against the actual vehicle and the bench position you intend to use.

What should families know about rear seats and child seats?
Renault UK’s technical data lists three rear seatbelts and ISOFIX child-seat fixing points on the front passenger seat and the two outer rear seats. That equipment listing does not establish whether a particular child seat fits or installs well in a specific seating position. Confirm the equipment for the exact vehicle version and check the vehicle manual and child-seat instructions. (Renault UK technical data)

Renault’s pages and brochure cover specific markets, publication dates and configurations. The capacities above are for the UK-listed E-Tech full hybrid; Renault’s current UK range includes more than one powertrain, and the equipment or specifications should not automatically be assumed to apply to every trim or model year. Renault Group reported newer E-Tech full hybrid 160 hp powertrain availability in 2025, but that drivetrain update does not by itself establish a change to boot dimensions.
