Red Bull revealed the RB17 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on 12 July 2024: a two-seat, track-focused hypercar built around a naturally aspirated 4.5-litre V10 with an electronic 15,000-rpm limit. Red Bull says it will make 50 cars and claims more than 1,200 hp, a weight below 900 kg and a top speed above 350 kph. Those are manufacturer-stated figures, not independently verified test results.
What is the Red Bull RB17?
The RB17 is a two-seat hypercar designed by Adrian Newey and Red Bull Advanced Technologies. Red Bull describes the project as an in-house design and engineering effort; Goodwood said it was designed, developed and manufactured in-house. Its 2024 Goodwood debut was static, following what Goodwood described as a successful prototype testing programme. That description reflects the programme as it stood at the time of the event, not the car’s present production status.
The layout pairs a carbon-fibre monocoque with a semi-stressed, mid-mounted V10. A carbon-fibre gearbox sends power to the rear wheels. The combination puts the engine and lightweight structure at the heart of a car conceived for the track rather than presented as a conventional road-going model.
What does the 15,000-rpm V10 mean?
A high-revving, naturally aspirated engine
Engine partner Cosworth specifies a bespoke 4.5-litre, 90-degree naturally aspirated V10, electronically limited to 15,000 rpm. The rev limit is the engine’s stated maximum speed, not a claim that it produces peak power at 15,000 rpm. Cosworth says development began in June 2023 and notes the use of air valve spring technology.

Cosworth also says the engine specification meets Red Bull’s 24,000-kilometre engine-life requirement and that the RB17 engine meets Euro 6 legislation. These are Cosworth’s statements in its 13 July 2024 announcement; they do not by themselves establish the car’s road legality in any particular market.
Manufacturer-stated performance
Oracle Red Bull Racing gives the RB17 more than 1,200 hp, a weight below 900 kg and a top speed above 350 kph, alongside lap times it describes as equivalent to Formula 1. Cosworth likewise says maximum speed exceeds 350 km/h. The official material establishes these as stated specifications and targets, not independently measured results from a published RB17 road or track test.

What the reveal does—and does not—establish
The July 2024 announcements establish the RB17’s intended architecture, engine-partner specifications, stated performance figures, limited production plan and broad owner programme. They do not establish present-day production or delivery status, public pricing, or independently verified performance. Adrian Newey described the car as embracing “undeniable power, speed and beauty”; the measurable figures remain claims from Red Bull and Cosworth until supported by independent testing.
