Locking axles and stabilizer-bar disconnect
Tru-Lok front and rear axles are listed in the 2025 package, along with a front stabilizer bar that disconnects. These features are part of the truck’s factory off-road specification; they do not remove the need to choose a suitable line, account for terrain and use equipment according to the vehicle’s instructions.

Ram’s 2025 buyer guide lists a WARN front electric winch with a manufacturer-stated capacity of 12,000 pounds for the specified Power Wagon package and equipment group. That rating is not a promise that every recovery can be performed safely at that load. What payload means in everyday use
Payload is the weight carried by the truck, not just cargo placed in the bed. Occupants, luggage, accessories and trailer tongue weight all consume payload. A trailer may be below the truck’s published maximum towing figure while its tongue weight and the people and gear inside the truck push the truck beyond its available payload. Check the door-jamb certification label on the specific vehicle and account for the entire load.
Why lineup-wide maximums do not apply
Stellantis’ 2025 announcement cites lineup-wide maximums of 36,610 pounds of towing for diesel Ram Heavy Duty configurations and 7,590 pounds of payload for gas configurations. What changes for the 2027 Power Wagon?
Ram announced that the 2027 Power Wagon will be available with the 6.7-liter Cummins High-Output turbo-diesel inline-six, the first time this engine has been offered on the Power Wagon. This is a significant powertrain change, but the 2025 gas-truck capacity figures should not be carried over to the 2027 diesel. Final 2027 Power Wagon-specific payload and towing ratings were not established in the cited material, and lineup-wide diesel maxima are not a substitute. - Confirm the model year and engine. The 2025 buyer-guide equipment and capacity figures are not automatically applicable to other years. In particular, verify 2027 diesel ratings from final model-specific information.
- Read the truck’s certification label. Use the door-jamb payload information for the actual vehicle and include passengers, cargo, accessories and trailer tongue weight.
- Check the exact towing configuration. Confirm the vehicle’s applicable rating and make sure the hitch, trailer and load are within the truck’s limits.
- Verify equipment and fitment.
