The fastest single figure for a bike that was sold to the public in a recent model-year range is the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R at 9.47 seconds and 152.83 mph, a historical result for 2012 to 2024 model years.
A verified top ten cannot be built from the published tests available today. What follows is a ranked list of seven street-legal entries, each tied to a named source, plus a separate note on the track-only Kawasaki Ninja H2R.
How this list is built
The rules below decide what appears in the ranking. They are stated first so the numbers can be read in context.
- Street-legal production motorcycles only. Track-only machines are shown separately and are not ranked.
- Measured results only. Each entry needs a published elapsed time and trap speed from a named source.
- Estimates are excluded from the ranking. One publisher of under-ten-second listicles calculates some figures when recorded time or trap-speed data are missing, marks those with an asterisk, and assumes a 150 lb rider. Those calculated numbers are not observed runs and are kept out of the table.
- Shared entries are shown once with both sources noted. Where ThrottleFigures and a compiled historical acceleration list (Wikipedia, accessed 2026) publish the same bike, the row cites both.
Ranked results
Entries are ordered by elapsed time. Where a source gives a range, the faster end is used for ordering. The figures come from different publishers and sessions, so they are a source-attributed list, not a common head-to-head test.

Reading the numbers
Elapsed time and trap speed measure different things, and both need their conditions attached before a comparison is meaningful.
- Elapsed time is the time from a standing start to the finish line of the quarter mile. A lower number is quicker.
- Trap speed is the speed recorded at the finish line. It describes the top end at the line, not how well the bike launched, so it does not rank bikes on its own. The Ninja H2R’s 157.00 mph trap speed sits alongside a slower elapsed time (9.76 sec) than the Ninja H2’s (9.62 sec, 152.01 mph) in the same comparison, which illustrates the difference.
- Conditions vary. ThrottleFigures says track temperature, air density, tire choice, rider technique, launch settings, and timing equipment can change results. The historical compilation adds rider skill, surface, weather, air temperature, and altitude as sources of variation.
Model notes
BMW M1000RR and BMW S1000RR
The M1000RR is the only entry whose published range sits below 9.5 seconds in the 2026 comparison, and it is the quickest street-legal figure found here. Its range is wide enough that a single session could land anywhere within it. The S1000RR, listed for 2023 to 2026 model years, is the slowest entry in the table at 9.93 seconds and 146.50 mph.
Rank #2
- Superior ATV and UTV engine protection protecting critical internal moving parts from the wear and tear of sudden starts and stops
- Formulated to maximize power and minimize wear in high-revving 4-stroke engines
- Cleaning agents and dispersants prevent deposits under severe conditions
- Viscosity improvers resist film breakdown and maintain its performance
- Superior wet clutch protection helps ensure maximum power transfer and smooth shifting under high torque and loads
Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R and ZX-10R
The ZX-14R is the fastest single time among street-legal models listed for a range of model years, at 9.47 seconds. Because it is a 2012 to 2024 range, it describes earlier production rather than the current showroom model. The ZX-10R’s 9.72 seconds appears only in the historical compilation, with no model years stated there.
Kawasaki Ninja H2 and H2R
The Ninja H2 is a street-legal road model with a published 9.62 seconds at 152.01 mph for 2025 and 2026 model years. The Ninja H2R is a different machine. ThrottleFigures lists it for 2021 to 2025 at 9.76 seconds and 157.00 mph and states that it is track-only and not street legal. It is therefore kept out of the ranking.
Rank #3
Suzuki Hayabusa
The Hayabusa is listed at 9.70 seconds and 148.48 mph for 2022 to 2026 model years in ThrottleFigures and appears with the same figures in the compilation. Its trap speed is the lowest among the street-legal entries in the table, even though its elapsed time sits in the middle of the group.
Ducati Desmosedici RR
The Desmosedici RR’s 9.49 seconds at 152.80 mph comes from the historical compilation, which lists it as a street-legal production motorcycle. No model years are given in the accessed material, and no second source was found, so treat it as a single-source figure.
Rank #4
Why a true top ten is not yet possible
A complete ten-bike ranking would need three more street-legal entries that each have a named test, a stated model year, a stock configuration, an elapsed time, a trap speed, and test conditions. The sources reviewed here do not supply that set. Filling the remaining places with formula-based estimates would make the list look more complete while weakening its accuracy, so this article leaves those places open.
