The reported $662,000 sale of a zero-mile Midnight Purple R34 Nissan GT-R Nismo with a $40,000 engine is not confirmed by the available auction records. A documented, similar R34 sold for $269,420 on June 14, 2025, but it was a 1999 GT-R V-Spec with about 34,000 miles—not a zero-mile car.
Is the $662,000 R34 sale verified?
No matching auction listing or other record establishing the car’s identity, zero-mile condition, $40,000 motor, NISMO status, or $662,000 result is available here. Those details should be treated as unverified rather than as facts about a completed sale.
The closest documented comparison is a Bring a Trailer auction for a 1999 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec in Midnight Purple II. It sold for $269,420 on June 14, 2025. The completed listing—not a pre-sale estimate or high bid—is the source for that result: Bring a Trailer’s 1999 GT-R V-Spec listing.
What the documented Midnight Purple II R34 was
The Bring a Trailer listing describes an R34 V-Spec showing about 54,000 km, or roughly 34,000 miles, on a NISMO cluster. It says a replacement RB26DETT 2.6-liter inline-six was installed in February 2010, and identifies a six-speed manual transmission and ATTESA E-TS PRO all-wheel drive. The listing also says the car was one of 347 R34 Skylines finished in Midnight Purple II.

- Licensed product from Fast & Furious
- ICONIC BRANDING: Attention to detail and expert styling enhances this 2002 Nissan Skyline R-34 vehicle
- Detailed interior, engine compartments and chassis
- Quality heavy diecast metal body with highly detailed wheels and chrome accents
- Suitable for ages 8+
Its NISMO references do not establish that it was the zero-mile NISMO car in the headline. The listing notes NISMO-branded equipment and NISMO Z-Tune-style exterior pieces; those details are not proof of factory NISMO identity, nor do they connect this car to a $40,000 engine or a $662,000 sale.
Why a pre-sale preview is not the final result
A June 7, 2025 preview at 6SpeedOnline covered the same related Bring a Trailer V-Spec listing, describing its Midnight Purple II finish, roughly 34,000-mile indication, and replacement RB26DETT engine. Its pre-sale bidding and expectations are not the completed result. The auction listing records the sale amount: 6SpeedOnline’s June 7 preview.

Do not confuse the R34 with a Midnight Purple R33
A separate RM Sotheby’s catalog entry concerns a 1995 R33 Skyline GT-R, not an R34. It describes a factory Midnight Purple car showing fewer than 1,590 km at cataloguing. It is a different generation and vehicle, and its mileage or description cannot verify the R34 claim: RM Sotheby’s 1995 R33 catalog entry.

A headline alone is not enough to establish whether a car was factory-built as a NISMO model, modified with NISMO parts, or presented as a conversion. A credible match would need a primary auction record, catalog, or seller/auction statement tying the vehicle and result together. Check the following details:
