The Quadvelo is an enclosed, four-wheeled electric-assist velomobile: it combines a weather-shielding body with bicycle-style pedals and electric assistance, rather than being a small car. Quadvelo describes it as sitting “somewhere between the bicycle and the car.” That is a useful description of its design, not a claim that it has car-equivalent crash protection or the same legal status everywhere.
What the Quadvelo is—and what the car comparison means
Quadvelo’s enclosed body and four wheels give it a more vehicle-like shape than an ordinary e-bike, while its pedal power and electric assistance place it closer to a velomobile. The manufacturer says the enclosure provides more weather protection than an exposed bicycle, but less than a car. Its materials do not establish crash-test performance, so the shell should not be read as car-like occupant protection. Quadvelo describes its position between bicycles and cars, but that positioning is not a legal classification.
Where it may be ridden depends on local rules. Quadvelo says the vehicle can be welcome on bike paths, but that statement does not settle whether a particular path or road permits it in your jurisdiction. Check local vehicle and cycle-path regulations before relying on it for a commute.

Enclosure, comfort and equipment
Quadvelo lists front carbon leaf springs and rear mechanical springs with dampers. The cabin equipment includes an ergonomic folding seat with a Ventisit cushion and headrest, scratch-resistant polycarbonate windows, a manually operated windshield wiper, an adjustable front air intake and removable side windows. The lighting list includes two 150-lux headlights, rear and brake lights, indicators, daytime running lights and an interior light. These are manufacturer-listed features; they do not by themselves establish a particular level of comfort or safety in use. The full specification list is published by Quadvelo.
Price, availability and delivery
At the time of the current official shop listing, Quadvelo priced the “Quadvelo 2025” at €14,350 including VAT and excluding shipping. The same listing said 10 units were available for delivery in two weeks and showed “No spare parts available at the moment.” These are changeable seller-provided details, not guaranteed availability or delivery commitments. Check the current Quadvelo shop listing and confirm stock, shipping, and parts availability with the company before ordering.

Quadvelo’s FAQ says in-stock orders typically arrive within two weeks after payment, while custom orders take three to six months depending on configuration. Those are also seller-provided estimates and can change. Read the manufacturer FAQ.
Practical ownership questions
How much can it carry?
The specification page gives a maximum total load of 200 kg and a rear-axle limit of 120 kg. Separately, the FAQ says the trunk can carry up to 120 kg and that an attachable bicycle trailer can carry a further 80 kg. These figures describe different limits; do not treat the trunk figure as permission to exceed the vehicle’s total or axle limits. The FAQ also mentions an optional go-cart-style seat on rails and says parents assume responsibility for carrying additional people or pets. Can the doors come off?
Yes. The manufacturer FAQ says the doors can be removed in hot weather; it also lists removable side windows. Confirm the correct procedure with Quadvelo rather than assuming the panels are interchangeable or can be removed while riding. Quadvelo’s FAQ addresses door removal.
How should it be locked and insured?
Quadvelo recommends using an additional bicycle lock when parked and says most insurance providers require an approved lock for theft coverage. That is manufacturer guidance, not a universal insurance rule. Ask your insurer which lock standard and policy conditions apply, and check local insurance requirements; the manufacturer material reviewed does not identify a specific compatible lock model. What does the warranty cover?
Quadvelo’s warranty page states that new velomobiles have a two-year warranty from delivery for the original purchaser. It requires a documented dealer check-up between weeks three and five after purchase or after 50 km. Normal-wear items—including tires, chains, brake pads, bearings, cogs and chainrings—are excluded, and modifications may affect coverage. The Quadvelo’s dimensions, mass and assistance limit matter as much as its unusual appearance. At 84 cm wide and 250 cm long, it needs more room than a conventional bicycle, while its listed 85–95 kg weight can affect storage, handling when stationary and transport. Before ordering, compare the available space at home and work with the listed dimensions, and ask a dealer about local servicing, parts, and a test ride. For a useful comparison with another vehicle, check legal access, weather enclosure, payload and axle limits, assisted speed and realistic range for your use, dimensions and mass, total delivered price, service access and warranty. The available manufacturer information does not provide a like-for-like comparison with a specific car or competing velomobile.
Who makes it?
Katanga announced on April 1, 2026 that QuadVelo had joined forces with it, describing the arrangement as supporting sourcing, assembly, research and development, ergonomics, comfort, quality and production efficiency. The announcement says Quadvelo and PONY4 production remains in Brno, with a production hall near the Austrian border supporting velomobile production.
