The first application round for Punjab’s E-Taxi Scheme 2025 has ended: Dunya News reported an October 5, 2025 deadline, and Dawn reported the first-batch launch in February 2026. Whether applications have reopened since then is not confirmed; check the official Punjab E-Taxi portal for a dated announcement before applying. The scheme was introduced as a 1,100-vehicle pilot in Lahore.
Is the Punjab e-taxi scheme open for applications?
No current reopening is verified. Dunya News reported on September 17, 2025 that applications were being accepted online until October 5, 2025. Dawn subsequently reported the first-batch launch on February 27, 2026. Those reports establish the first-round timeline, but do not show whether a later round has opened as of October 8, 2026.
Before sharing personal information or paying anyone, look for a current, dated notice on the Punjab E-Taxi portal or the Punjab Transport Department scheme page. Do not treat old application instructions or third-party posts as proof that registration is live.
How do I apply for the Punjab e-taxi scheme?
The September 2025 application coverage described an online application process, but a current open form and a complete applicant procedure are not verified. Use the official portal only if it displays a new, dated application notice and instructions.
#1 Best Overall
- Open the official E-Taxi page and check for a current application announcement, deadline and link to the form.
- Read the current eligibility rules, document list, vehicle and supplier information, and financing terms shown for that round. Do not assume that details from the 2025 round still apply.
- Submit information only through the official process named in that notice. Confirm payment instructions on an official government page before sending any money.
The portal’s registration and FAQ pages could not be verified, so no specific form fields, required documents, or live status can be established here.
Who is eligible for the Punjab e-taxi scheme?
The available official overview describes two participation routes, but it is not a complete current eligibility checklist:
Rank #2
- Iconic Design: 1:40 scale die-cast metal model of the classic 1957 Chevy Bel Air Coupe taxi cab
- Collectible Toy: Measures approximately 5 inches long, suitable for collectors and car enthusiasts
- Durable Construction: Die-cast metal body ensures long-lasting play and display
- Realistic Details: Accurately captures the iconic styling with opening doors and pull-back action
- Authentic Branding: Licensed KiNSMART product, ensuring quality and attention to detail
- Fleet owners: The overview assigns 1,000 vehicles to fleet owners and says a fleet owner must take at least 10 vehicles.
- Individual drivers: The overview assigns 100 vehicles to individuals and says drivers must be registered with transport network companies.
The overview does not establish a full set of individual requirements such as age, residency, income, licence, or supporting-document rules. Confirm those requirements in the official instructions for any newly announced round rather than relying on assumptions.
What is the down payment for the Punjab e-taxi scheme?
A single current down-payment figure is not established. The Punjab Transport & Mass Transit Department’s supplier-registration document describes government support for equity, payment of interest on a five-year loan, and registration charges. It indicates financing for cars priced up to PKR 6.5 million; an amount above that cap is to be paid upfront by the applicant. The document is for supplier registration, so it does not by itself confirm the final applicant schedule for every delivered vehicle.

At the February 2026 launch, Dawn reported that the government would cover 50% of male drivers’ down payment and 60% of female drivers’ down payment, with payments running through five years. These are launch-report details, not a substitute for a current official applicant schedule. Ask the scheme administrator for the vehicle’s approved price, applicant equity, any amount above the financing cap, instalment schedule and applicable fees before committing.
How many taxis are included, and how are places allocated?
The official Punjab Portal overview describes the initial Lahore pilot as 1,100 electric vehicles and gives an allocation of 1,000 fleet vehicles and 100 individual vehicles. Within the individual allocation, it specifies 70 places for men and 30 for women. The portal also lists a PKR 3.5 billion subsidy, with no date stated on the overview.

- Authentic Ford Police Interceptor Design: Features a taxi in a smooth yellow finish with realistic detailing

- Precise Scale Model: 1:64 scale diecast toy car with accurate proportions and details

Dawn’s February 2026 launch report instead describes a 30% women’s quota and a PKR 4 billion subsidy. The 30% figure does not match the portal’s description of 30 women’s places within the 100 individual vehicles. These are distinct figures from different sources and dates; they should not be combined into a single allocation claim. Confirm the quota and available places from the current official notice.

Vehicle availability, financing and after-sales support depend on the approved models and suppliers for the relevant round. The Department’s supplier-registration document sets supplier requirements, including six-year battery and motor/controller warranties and a commitment to genuine spare-parts availability for six years. Those are supplier requirements, not proof that every delivered vehicle has identical final warranty terms.

Best Value
- Verify that the model and supplier are approved for the current scheme round.
- Get the vehicle’s price in writing and check how any amount above the PKR 6.5 million financing ceiling will be paid.
- Ask for the specific loan, equity and repayment schedule applicable to you.
- Read the warranty terms for the particular vehicle, including what the battery and motor/controller coverage includes.
- Check charging access for your routes. The Punjab Portal says charging stations are being set up at key locations but does not identify a network or provide location coverage.
Dawn also reported that launched taxis had a panic button linked to the Punjab Safe Cities Authority and were being registered with InDrive and Yango. These are operational details reported at launch, not confirmation of the equipment or platform arrangements for every vehicle or a future application round.
