ProLogium and Rimac Technology are targeting the second half of 2028 for in-vehicle and public-road testing of a jointly developed solid-state battery pack. That is a development milestone, not a confirmed production-car launch. As of ProLogium’s October 12, 2026 update, the partners had completed a battery-pack concept mockup, were developing a functional battery segment and planned a full-scale functional pack for the second half of 2027.
What the 2028 target actually means
The companies’ current roadmap places vehicle integration and public-road testing in the second half of 2028. The announcement does not identify a production vehicle, customer model, launch price or retail availability. Dates on this roadmap are company-reported targets and can change as the pack moves through engineering validation.

The program began with a memorandum of understanding signed in September 2025. ProLogium supplies its next-generation cell technology, while Rimac Technology contributes battery-system development and vehicle-integration expertise. Their stated architecture uses pouch cells in a cell-to-pack design without conventional modules.

What engineers are testing
Thermal and swelling management
Rimac Technology says engineers are testing several ways to control heat and cell swelling across functional battery segments. These are critical to durability, safety and predictable performance, but the companies have not published a final solution or vehicle-level result.
Cell-to-pack integration
The planned module-free architecture places pouch cells directly into the pack structure. The 2025 memorandum identified high packaging efficiency and scalability for higher-volume production as design objectives. It also set out a goal of disassembling the pack down to an individual cell, which could improve repair, recycling and reuse if achieved in production hardware.
Energy, mass and performance trade-offs
Daniel Kišić, Rimac Technology’s principal product architect, said multiple integration solutions are being evaluated in parallel. Some options emphasize energy density and reduced space or weight; others are oriented toward performance. Those are engineering directions under evaluation, not final specifications.

The statements are expectations that require vehicle-level validation rather than measured results from the joint pack.
What “solid-state” establishes—and what it does not
Rimac’s September 2025 description characterized the platform as a solid-state-cell battery system developed with ProLogium and Mitsubishi Chemical Group, combining cell technology with materials expertise.
Separately, ProLogium reported in January 2026 that its Superfluidized All-Inorganic Solid-State Lithium Ceramic Battery reached a maximum volumetric energy density of 860 Wh/L and claimed a 4–6 minute recharge from 60% to 80%. Those are ProLogium technology claims. The announcement does not show that either figure applies to the specific Rimac pack or to a vehicle that has completed testing, and no independent statistic specific to this program has been reported.
Why the pack architecture matters for an EV
- Packaging: Removing modules can reduce inactive structure and create more room for cells, subject to structural and safety requirements.
- Thermal control: Direct cell integration can simplify some interfaces but makes heat distribution, cooling and fault containment especially important.
- Mass and space: Any improvement must be assessed at complete-pack level, including cooling, enclosure, controls and protection hardware.
- Manufacturing: A design that works in a prototype still has to be repeatable, scalable and economically manufacturable.
- Service and end of life: The stated cell-level disassembly objective could support repair and recycling, but it remains a design goal rather than a demonstrated production capability.
Manufacturing context
ProLogium reports more than 2.4 million battery cells delivered since 2013, including cells used in in-vehicle audio systems, and approximately 10,000 automotive battery samples. These cumulative company figures provide background on its development activity; they do not demonstrate that the ProLogium–Rimac pack has completed vehicle testing.

ProLogium says the first phase of its Dunkirk gigafactory is designed for 4.0 GWh of annual capacity, progressively expected by 2030. That is a facility plan, not a confirmed production allocation or supply commitment for Rimac Technology.
Rimac Technology describes itself as a Tier 1 automotive supplier working on electrification systems, including batteries and e-axles, from concepts and prototypes through series production. That role explains why it is responsible for system development, but it does not make this joint battery a production vehicle component today.
Statements from the companies
“Since jointly announcing our collaboration with Rimac Technology at IAA in 2025, both teams have continued to advance the project, translating our shared technical vision into concrete engineering development work. What we are presenting at the Paris Motor Show is the baseline of that collaboration.”

“A wide range of integration solutions is currently being evaluated and tested in parallel on functional battery segments, covering thermal management, swelling management, cell integration and system-level design.”
— Daniel Kišić, principal product architect, Rimac Technology, October 12, 2026
Nurdin Pitarević, Rimac’s COO and deputy CEO, said in September 2025 that ProLogium’s solid-state technology complemented Rimac’s next-generation battery platform. These comments describe the partners’ position; they are not independent performance verification.
What must happen before a vehicle road test
- Complete and test functional battery segments under the competing thermal, swelling and integration concepts.
- Select and validate a design suitable for a full-scale pack.
- Build the planned full-scale functional pack in the second half of 2027.
- Verify pack controls, cooling, structural integration, safety behavior and serviceability at system level.
- Integrate the pack into a vehicle and conduct controlled in-vehicle testing before public-road evaluation targeted for the second half of 2028.
Until those stages are completed, the program should be judged as an active battery-development effort rather than evidence that a solid-state Rimac vehicle is ready for purchase.
