Within this sourced subset, the Explorer ST leads on published horsepower, followed by the CX-90 Turbo S when it uses recommended premium fuel. The figures do not prove either is the highest-output SUV across the entire U.S. market.
Why this is not a verified top ten
A reliable “most powerful” list needs consistent coverage of eligible vehicles for the same market and model year. The specifications available here do not establish ten qualifying turbocharged SUVs or their order. “Mainstream” also needs a defined boundary—such as a price ceiling, vehicle class, or exclusion of premium brands—before a definitive list can be ranked fairly.

For a useful comparison, keep the measurement consistent: compare manufacturer-rated gasoline engine horsepower with gasoline engine horsepower, not with a hybrid’s combined system rating. State the fuel grade wherever it changes the rating. Torque describes a different part of an engine’s output and is useful context, but it is not interchangeable with horsepower and cannot substitute for a horsepower ranking.

How fuel changes the CX-90 Turbo S rating
Mazda’s 2026 CX-90 3.3 Turbo S is listed at 340 hp and 369 lb-ft when using recommended 91-octane premium fuel. On 87-octane regular, Mazda lists 319 hp. The fuel qualification belongs with the horsepower figure: quoting 340 hp without it would overstate what the source says the engine produces on regular fuel. The 2026 Honda Pilot is a useful reminder that horsepower alone does not determine whether a vehicle belongs in a turbo-only comparison. Honda lists its 3.5L V6 at 285 hp and 262 lb-ft, but the cited specifications do not identify it as turbocharged. It therefore does not qualify for this comparison. Honda Pilot specifications.
