Porsche’s Vision Renndienst is a six-person electric minivan design study built around an adaptable cabin—not a production vehicle announcement. Its defining ideas include a front seat that swivels 180 degrees, passenger screens that can fold away, and an underfloor electric drive that frees up interior space.
What is the Porsche Vision Renndienst?
Renndienst is Porsche’s concept for a family-oriented electric minivan with room for up to six people. Porsche presented it as a design study exploring how the brand’s ideas might work in a different vehicle format, rather than as a model confirmed for sale. Porsche’s July 26, 2021 account describes the interior and its intended flexibility.
The “day after tomorrow” framing comes from Porsche’s description of its concept process. Chief designer Michael Mauer said the idea is to imagine distant possibilities, then work backward toward ideas for the near future. That language describes a design approach; it is not a promise of a launch date or a prediction that this van will reach production. Porsche’s 2020 Porsche Unseen announcement places Renndienst among unreleased design studies.
How the cabin is designed to work
A swiveling front seat and a communication space
The driver’s seat can swivel 180 degrees in the concept, allowing the cockpit to become a space oriented toward communication with passengers. That is a design feature of the study, not a confirmed specification for a retail vehicle. Interior designer Markus Auerbach described the enclosed cabin as a “protective capsule.” Christophorus’s 2021 feature, “Inner Life,” carries that description.

Passenger displays that can be tucked away
Passenger screens are conceived to work independently or fold into the dashboard when they are not needed. The arrangement points to a cabin intended to change with the trip and the people using it, rather than a fixed layout dominated by permanently visible displays.
Electric packaging creates adaptable space
Porsche says the fully electric drive is concealed in the underbody, helping free the cabin for flexible use. The published description does not specify battery capacity, driving range, charging rate, or power output, so those figures cannot be inferred from the concept’s electric layout.

Where Porsche design cues remain—and where the format changes
Renndienst applies Porsche design language to a family van rather than a conventional sports-car cabin. The cockpit keeps five round instruments and haptic buttons, recognizable references to Porsche interiors, while the seating orientation, passenger interaction, and modular travel space test a substantially different way of arranging the cabin.
This is a comparison of design ideas, not a test of Renndienst against a production sports car. The concept asks how brand identity might persist when the vehicle’s purpose shifts from a driver-focused cockpit to shared passenger space.
