Yes—in the performance-car sense, the 2021 Porsche Panamera Turbo S makes a compelling case as a four-door supercar: it is a front-engine, 620-hp V8 sedan with Porsche-quoted 0–60 mph acceleration as quick as 2.9 seconds. “Four-door supercar” is a useful description, not a formal vehicle class. This is the gasoline Turbo S, not the separate Turbo S E-Hybrid.
Why the 2021 Panamera Turbo S earns the description
Porsche announced the 2021 Panamera Turbo S in August 2020 as the successor to the previous Panamera Turbo. Its defining combination is supercar-level power and acceleration in a four-door, four-seat luxury-car format. That does not make it a mid-engine sports car or a formal member of a defined “supercar” class; it explains why the label is often applied to this unusually fast flagship sedan.
The Turbo S uses a front-mounted, 3,996 cc twin-turbocharged V8. Porsche lists output at 620 hp at 6,000 rpm and 604 lb-ft of torque from 2,300 to 4,500 rpm. The predecessor Panamera Turbo was rated by Porsche at 550 hp and 567 lb-ft, making the new model a substantial step up within the same lineup.
How fast is the Porsche Panamera Turbo S?
Porsche’s August 2020 announcement quotes the following acceleration and top track speeds for the 2021 gasoline Turbo S models. The acceleration figures are with Launch Control.

| Body style | 0–60 mph | Top track speed |
|---|---|---|
| Panamera Turbo S sedan | 2.9 seconds | 196 mph |
| Panamera Turbo S Executive | 3.0 seconds | 196 mph |
| Panamera Turbo S Sport Turismo | 2.9 seconds | 196 mph |
These are Porsche’s manufacturer-published figures, not results from an independent comparison test. The small acceleration difference between body styles is the distinction Porsche documents; all three are quoted at the same top track speed.
What Porsche fitted as standard
Porsche highlighted performance chassis and braking equipment as standard on the Turbo S. The listed features help explain how the flagship’s performance package extends beyond engine output, without implying a particular independently measured lap-time or braking-distance benefit.

What the track records show—and what they do not
Porsche reported that test driver Lars Kern completed the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 7:29.81 in 2020, describing the result at the time as the official “executive cars” class record. In a separate report published January 22, 2021, Porsche said Leh Keen drove a 1:31.51 lap of the 2.54-mile Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta course in November 2020, calling it a production-sedan benchmark.
Both results are Porsche-reported track claims, not independent head-to-head tests. Keen’s comment in Porsche’s Road Atlanta report was: “The engineers found a perfect balance,” referring to the car in the context of that track event. The figures illustrate Porsche’s performance case, but do not establish how the Turbo S compares with every rival under common testing conditions.

Turbo S versus Turbo S E-Hybrid: an important distinction
The 2021 Panamera Turbo S and Turbo S E-Hybrid are different powertrains. The gasoline Turbo S discussed here has a 620-hp twin-turbo V8. Porsche quoted the 2021 Turbo S E-Hybrid at 689 hp combined, 642 lb-ft, and a 17.9 kWh gross battery capacity; those are hybrid-system figures and must not be attributed to the non-hybrid Turbo S. Porsche’s 2024 announcement also uses the Turbo S E-Hybrid name for the then-new top Panamera model.
