The Porsche Junior was a small, single-cylinder Porsche-Diesel tractor, not a sports car. Porsche’s published overview gives the Junior family a speed range of 16.5–20 km/h (about 10.3–12.4 mph), making it a strong candidate for the title of the slowest Porsche—but the available evidence does not prove an all-time ranking across every Porsche vehicle or prototype.
What was the Porsche Junior?
The Junior was the smallest, one-cylinder member of Porsche-Diesel’s tractor range, alongside the Standard, Super and Master. Porsche’s Christophorus overview describes the Junior family as having 822–875 cc of displacement and 12–15 bhp. These are family-wide ranges, not specifications for every individual tractor.
Its tractor role explains the modest speed. The Junior was intended as a maneuverable, lightweight agricultural machine rather than a road-going performance vehicle. Porsche’s account highlights lightweight construction, an oil-hydraulic clutch and an oil-cleaning centrifuge among its notable features.
How fast was the Porsche Junior?
Porsche’s published Junior range is 16.5–20 km/h (about 10.3–12.4 mph). The spread matters: the Junior name covers variants with different specifications, so it is not accurate to assign one exact top speed to every example.

- Revell Plastic Model Car Kit #85-4521 is skill level 4 and contains 109 parts. Recommended for ages 12 and up.
- Assembled Dimensions: 7.00"x3.13"x2.19"

- Molded in white and clear with soft black tires. Paint and glue not included.
That reported speed makes the Junior one of the slowest machines to carry the Porsche name. It does not establish that it was definitively the slowest Porsche ever made; the available sources do not provide a comprehensive ranking covering every Porsche vehicle, tractor and prototype.
Why Junior specifications vary
Different versions within the family
“Porsche Junior” is a model-family label, not a guarantee of identical equipment. Porsche Traktor’s specialist history describes eight Junior 108 variants. When identifying a particular tractor or looking up parts and specifications, its subtype or type code is more useful than the Junior name alone.

One documented example
A 1959 Porsche-Diesel Junior listed by Bonhams in 2022 was described as having an 822 cc air-cooled, single-cylinder diesel engine producing 14 bhp. That is an auction catalogue’s specification for one machine—not a specification for the entire Junior family.
Production dates depend on the model definition
TractorData’s Junior entry lists 1957–1963. Porsche’s broader historical account gives 1963 as the end of Porsche tractor production, but the cited sources do not establish one production-start date that applies to every Junior variant. Treat dates as dependent on which model or subtype a source includes.

The Porsche Junior restoration project is a different thing
The “Porsche Junior project” is also the name of a restoration initiative, not a tractor variant. Porsche reported in 2016 that Porsche-Diesel-Club Europa e.V. established the project in 2007 with Porsche’s support. It brings schools and other institutions into tractor restoration work as practical vocational learning. Porsche’s 2016 account said 7,000 young people from more than 120 institutions had participated by the time of publication; that is a historical total, not a current count.
Restoration can be highly individual. In Porsche’s Christophorus account, tractor owner Manfred Krämer of the Allgäu region observed: “Every Porsche tractor has its own history that will determine how much of an effort is required to restore it.” Porsche’s account also describes specialist sourcing for items such as wheels, pistons, cylinders and handmade electrical cable sets; it does not establish any seller’s current stock.

Finding information for a specific Junior
Start with the tractor’s subtype and type code, then match any technical reference to that version. TractorData references Porsche-published Junior literature, including the “Junior one-plow-tractor” publication PD 179/7/60/400. That reference does not confirm that a particular edition is currently for sale, so verify the edition and availability with a seller before buying.
For a restoration, the model name alone is not enough to establish what parts or work an individual tractor needs. Equipment, condition and requirements differ between examples, and a description of one restored or auctioned tractor should not be treated as a condition report for another.
