The Porsche 911 Spirit 70 is a limited-edition, rear-wheel-drive 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet with a modern hybrid powertrain and styling inspired by the 1970s and early 1980s. Porsche announced 1,500 examples worldwide on 23 April 2025, making it the third model in its Heritage Design series. Despite the informal “roadster” label, Porsche describes it as a convertible.
What is the Porsche 911 Spirit 70?
It is a special-edition version of the current 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet, not a restored or mechanically period-correct 1970s car. Porsche presented it at the Shanghai Auto Show on 23 April 2025 as a worldwide limited run of 1,500. The company positions the Spirit 70 as a design-led tribute to the 1970s and early 1980s, and the third of four Heritage Design models planned to represent decades from the 1950s through the 1980s.
Its basic configuration remains contemporary: a rear-wheel-drive 911 convertible with Porsche’s hybrid-assisted GTS powertrain. The distinction is primarily the limited production and its era-specific finish and cabin details.
What makes its design look like the 1970s?
Porsche combines a vivid, exclusive paint color with period-inspired graphics and materials. The retro cues are deliberate references rather than evidence that the car is a vintage 911.

The contrast is the point: the visual language looks back, while the underlying car uses current 911 engineering. Porsche’s design feature describes the Heritage Design series as a reinterpretation of historical elements, not a recreation of an earlier model.
Is the Porsche 911 Spirit 70 a hybrid?
Yes. Porsche says the Spirit 70 uses the hybrid system introduced with the current 911 Carrera GTS. Its 3.6-liter boxer engine works with a high-voltage system, an electric motor integrated into the new PDK transmission, and an eTurbo. The result is a hybrid-powered sports car, not a purely analog or non-hybrid throwback.

For the U.S. market, Porsche Cars North America’s 23 April 2025 launch announcement lists combined output of 532 hp and 449 lb-ft. Porsche’s global announcement gives 398 kW (541 PS) and 610 Nm. These are market-specific unit figures; they should not be combined as if they were separate outputs.
How fast is it?
Porsche USA’s model page, checked 8 October 2026, lists 0–60 mph in 3.0 seconds with Sport Chrono and a 194 mph top track speed with summer tires. These are Porsche-published manufacturer figures with the stated conditions, not independent test results.

How much does the Porsche 911 Spirit 70 cost in the U.S.?
Porsche USA’s model page displayed a starting MSRP of $254,300 on 8 October 2026. Porsche says that figure excludes options, taxes, title, registration, delivery, processing and handling, dealer charges, and potential tariffs. It also says the dealer sets the actual selling price, so confirm current pricing and availability with a Porsche Center.
For context, Porsche Cars North America’s launch announcement on 23 April 2025 listed an initial U.S. MSRP of $240,000, excluding $2,250 for delivery, processing and handling. That is the launch-era figure, not the current displayed starting MSRP. The same announcement expected U.S. Porsche Center arrivals in late summer 2025; that historical schedule is not a current delivery estimate.

How does it compare with a regular 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet?
The Spirit 70 shares its technical basis with the rear-wheel-drive 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet, but it adds a limited Heritage Design identity. Porsche’s published figures support these distinctions; they do not establish a like-for-like price premium over a specific current GTS trim.

Is the matching Porsche Design watch part of the car?
No. Porsche Design announced a separate Chronograph 911 Spirit 70 in April 2025 at a European RRP of €11,950. Porsche Design said it would be sold through Porsche Centers exclusively to Spirit 70 buyers or owners. That launch-era price is not a current or universal quote, and the watch is a companion item rather than equipment included with the car.
