The Manthey Kit is the better-supported choice if you want a Porsche- and Manthey-developed package, coordinated calibration, Porsche Center access and a documented Nordschleife development program. A carefully selected aftermarket build is the better fit when you have a specific circuit, budget or setup target and want to choose each component yourself.
The published lap times do not prove that a Manthey-equipped GT3 is faster than every aftermarket GT3. They involve different 911 generations, drivers, tires and weather. Treat them as evidence of Manthey’s track-development focus, not as a controlled head-to-head test.

What the two upgrade paths actually are
A Manthey Kit is a generation-specific package developed with Porsche rather than a single suspension or aero part. Manthey says the 992.1 kit was created in close cooperation with Porsche engineers and evaluated with aerodynamic simulation, Nordschleife running, a driving-dynamics test stand and Porsche’s high-performance wind tunnel in Weissach. The 992.2 package follows the same integrated philosophy, with more than a year of development with Porsche and a defined combination of aerodynamic, suspension and braking hardware.

The catalog from Dundon Motorsports, for example, lists separate 992.1 and 992.2 paths covering exhaust, aerodynamics, suspension, brakes, wheels and track-day setups. That breadth is useful, but a catalog of available parts is not an independent test proving that a complete aftermarket build is faster, safer or more durable than a Manthey Kit.

The distinction matters because a GT3 is already a highly developed vehicle. Changing one area can expose a limitation somewhere else. More front aero may require a matching rear balance; a lower ride height can alter alignment and ground clearance; a more aggressive brake pad can change noise, dust and disc wear. Manthey sells a defined starting point, while an aftermarket build makes the owner or specialist responsible for validating those interactions.
Manthey Kit component scope
992.1 (991? No: 992.1) kit
The 992.1 package lists a lightweight wheel set, carbon aero discs, brake pads, a splitter, flaps, an underbody air guide, a carbon rear wing with end plates, a diffuser, a four-way coilover kit and steel-braided brake lines. Manthey identifies some items as optional or separately available, so the exact car-to-car specification must be confirmed before ordering.
The package’s value is not only the parts list. The suspension, aero and brake changes are intended to work as one system, with the development process addressing aerodynamic balance and driving behavior together. That can reduce the amount of trial-and-error normally required when mixing unrelated components.

A quoted “Manthey Kit” may not mean every listed wheel, tire, brake or aero item is included. Ask for a build sheet showing standard and optional components, the intended damper settings, and whether installation, alignment and corner-weighting are included. Keep that document with the vehicle records because it defines what the published package actually represents.
992.2 kit
The 992.2 product page lists a four-way adjustable coilover kit, an optional lightweight wheel set, carbon aero discs, a brake-pad set, braided brake lines and the associated aero parts. Manthey reports 540 kg of total downforce at 285 km/h for this kit. That is a manufacturer figure at a stated speed, not a promise of the same load at road speeds, in every corner or at every circuit.
The 992.2 package has also been associated with the latest official Manthey lap report. The report says the car used optional Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires. Tire size, load and speed rating, wheel compatibility and marketplace availability still need to be checked against the exact GT3.
Four-way adjustment gives a specialist more ways to tune the car than a fixed damper, but it also increases the importance of a documented baseline. Record click positions, ride heights, alignment values and tire pressures before the first event. If the car is later used on the road, ask the installer which settings preserve acceptable compliance and clearance rather than assuming the track baseline is suitable everywhere.

What an aftermarket build can cover
An aftermarket build can start with one problem instead of a complete package. You might need more front-end support at a high-speed circuit, a pad and fluid combination for repeated braking, a different spring and damper range, lighter wheels or an exhaust change. Dundon’s 992.1 and 992.2 catalog demonstrates that generation-specific paths exist across aero, suspension, brakes, wheels, exhaust and track-day packages.
This modular approach allows a driver to keep road manners, prioritize a particular tire, or spend money where the car’s current limitation is most obvious. It also creates more variables: spring rates, damper clicks, ride height, alignment, tire pressures, aero angles, brake compounds and electronic settings must be made compatible. Installation quality and post-installation setup are part of the performance result.
Start with a written objective. “Make it faster” is too broad; “reduce front-tire overheating after six consecutive laps” or “reduce brake fade during repeated stops” gives a shop a measurable problem to solve. Change the minimum number of variables, log tire temperatures and wear, and compare sessions in similar conditions. Otherwise, a faster lap may reflect cooler air, a different fuel load or a new tire rather than the part being evaluated.
Component-by-component trade-offs
Aero: Splitters, flaps, underbody guides, diffusers, wing elements and carbon aero discs change airflow and the balance between front and rear axle support. Their benefit depends on speed and setup. Check ride height, fastener security, ground clearance and whether the chosen front and rear pieces were designed to operate together. A road car that frequently encounters ramps or wet roads may need a less aggressive setting than a dedicated track car.
Suspension: Coilovers add adjustment rather than guaranteeing a quicker result. Spring selection, damper settings, ride height, corner weights and alignment all influence how the tire works. A specialist should supply a repeatable baseline and explain which adjustment is intended for high-speed versus technical circuits. Make sure the available range still permits sensible alignment and clearance on your exact chassis.
Brakes: Pads and braided lines can be selected around temperature range, pedal feel and event length. Confirm compatibility with the factory calipers, discs and electronic systems, and budget for consumables. A pad that works well at high temperature can be noisy or dusty on the road. Brake fluid specification, bleeding procedure and inspection intervals should be written into the service plan.
Wheels and tires: Lightweight wheels can reduce rotating and unsprung mass, but the wheel must clear the brake package and accept the intended tire dimensions. The 2026 Manthey lap report used optional Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires; that does not isolate the tire’s contribution or mean that the same tire is appropriate for every climate or road trip. Verify load and speed ratings, heat-cycle practice and wet-weather expectations.

| Result | Car and conditions | What it establishes |
|---|---|---|
| 6:55.737 over 20.8 km | 992.1 Manthey Kit; Porsche works driver Kévin Estre; Manthey’s current 992.1 product page | A published Manthey-kit Nordschleife result |
| 6:52.981 | 992.2 Manthey Kit; Porsche Newsroom report from 2025; difficult conditions at critical points | Porsche reported a 2.756-second improvement over the predecessor-kit result and planned another attempt in better weather |
| 6:50.863 over 20.832 km | 992.2 Manthey Kit; 30 September 2026; DTM champion Ayhancan Güven; optional Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires; better conditions than the prior attempt | The latest official Manthey result identified here |
| 540 kg at 285 km/h | 992.2 Manthey Kit; Manthey product-page figure | A manufacturer-stated total-downforce value at one speed |
These results use different generations, drivers, tires and test conditions. None compares a Manthey car with an aftermarket car driven by the same person on the same day. A Nordschleife lap also does not predict performance at a short club circuit, a technical sprint track or a wet event.
The 992.1 result is quoted over 20.8 km, while the latest 992.2 report specifies 20.832 km. Even small differences in course length, timing method, traffic, temperature and tire preparation can matter when comparing seconds. The 2025 Porsche report also noted difficult conditions at critical points and said another attempt was planned in better weather. Read each result as a report of that specific run, not as a universal conversion factor for your own car.
Integration, calibration and fitment
Why integration favors Manthey
A coordinated package gives you a defined starting point for ride height, damping, aero balance and brake hardware. Manthey’s stated Porsche cooperation and wind-tunnel, test-stand and Nordschleife work provide a development story that is broader than an individual component’s advertised gain. The Porsche Center channel can also simplify sourcing and installation, subject to the terms in your region.
That does not mean every owner will obtain a professional driver’s lap time. Driver ability, tires, alignment, temperatures, fuel load and track knowledge can overwhelm hardware differences. The benefit is a more documented baseline and fewer unknown interactions.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsAsk the center to identify which work is performed there, which settings are supplied by Manthey, and how future servicing is handled. A clear installation record helps if the car changes hands or if a later owner needs to restore the original configuration.
Why configuration favors aftermarket
With separate parts, you can choose a damper range appropriate to your local circuit, retain a preferred wheel or tire, add braking capacity without buying aero, or change one item at a time. This is valuable for a car used at both road and track events, where a maximum-downforce setup may be unnecessary or inconvenient.

- Buyer's Guide: The seat guard for car seat between seat & console measures 15.75*2.7*1.53", suitable for gaps of 1.43-1.53" in width, please double-check carefully the distance between your seat and the center console before placing an order
- Storage and Filling in One: Differ from traditional single-function gap fillers, gap filler for car incorporates storage function, offers you the convenience of storing phones and various other items, so that you can access them at any time while driving
- Avoid Items Slipping: With the bumps and vibrations of the car, phones, keys may fall into the seat crevices, which is difficult to pick up, and distracts the driver's attention. Car gap seat filler fills gaps seamlessly to create an effective barrier
- Easy to Install: Car side seat gap filler is easy to install, simply insert it into the gap between the seat and the center console, gap seat filler for car can fit tightly without affecting the normal adjustment of the seat and the use of the seat belt
- Premium Material: Crafted from premium EVA material, our car seat side gap filler boasts a combination of wear-resistant, softness&durability. Maintenance is effortless, simply rinse and wipe to quickly clean the dust and debris in corners and crevices
The trade-off is responsibility for the system. Confirm that every part fits your exact 992.1 or 992.2 chassis, works with the intended wheel and tire, clears the brake hardware, and leaves enough adjustment range after installation. Have the car corner-weighted and aligned after ride-height or suspension changes, then document the settings so changes can be reversed.
Request the installer’s recommended alignment sheet, torque checks and inspection schedule. Ask who will support the car if a damper develops a problem, a tire rubs under compression or a brake compound proves unsuitable. Those answers are part of the upgrade, not administrative details.
Warranty, channel and availability
Porsche described U.S. availability of the 992.2 Manthey Kit in 2026. Manthey’s 30 September 2026 release later said the kit was available through Porsche Centers worldwide and that “the factory warranty remains unchanged.” Confirm the current regional terms, what the warranty covers after installation, and whether labor must be performed by a particular center before placing an order.
Aftermarket warranty, support and installation arrangements vary by supplier and installer. The current price of either a complete Manthey package or an aftermarket build, labor rates, taxes, shipping and regional availability were not established in the material available for this comparison. Obtain a written, vehicle-specific quotation rather than comparing catalog totals.
For a fair cost comparison, list the kit or parts, optional aero and wheels, tires, brake pads and fluid, installation, alignment, corner-weighting, shipping, taxes and replacement consumables. Include the opportunity cost of track time used for testing and any second setup needed for road use. A lower catalog subtotal can become more expensive after required supporting parts and repeated setup changes.
Which route suits your priorities?
| Your priority | More suitable starting point | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| One coordinated package with Porsche-linked development | Manthey Kit | Defined component scope and a documented Porsche/Manthey development process |
| Dealer-channel purchase and support | Manthey Kit | Manthey says distribution is through Porsche Centers worldwide; verify local terms |
| A specific circuit problem or personal setup preference | Aftermarket build | Parts can be selected and adjusted around the actual limitation |
| Phased spending | Aftermarket build | You can address brakes, tires, suspension or aero in stages |
| Fastest documented Nordschleife evidence | Manthey Kit | The published figures are Manthey-kit results; there is no equivalent controlled aftermarket comparison here |
| Predictable fitment | Either, after verification | Both paths are generation-specific; confirm the exact chassis, options and wheel/brake combination |
How to compare an aftermarket proposal with a Manthey Kit
- Match the generation. Compare a 992.1 package with a 992.1 GT3 and a 992.2 package with a 992.2 GT3. Do not treat the 992.1 and 992.2 lap times as interchangeable.
- Write down the complete specification. List dampers and spring rates, ride height, aero components and settings, wheels, tires, brake pads, lines, fluid, alignment and any electronic changes.
- Match the operating conditions. Use the same tire type and size, fuel load, driver, alignment philosophy, ambient conditions and circuit configuration when evaluating data.
- Separate part claims from vehicle results. A supplier’s statement that a component was engineered or tested is not the same as an independently timed, same-car comparison.
- Price the installed system. Include installation, alignment, corner-weighting, setup time, replacement consumables, shipping, taxes and any required supporting parts.
- Plan support and reversibility. Ask who will diagnose noise, tire wear, damper issues or brake problems, and keep the original parts if the car must return to road-oriented settings.
- Define a test protocol. Use the same driver, tire pressures, fuel target, warm-up procedure and timing method. Record ambient and track temperatures, session traffic and any setup change between runs.
- Review the data after several events. One unusually quick or slow session is not enough to judge durability or consistency. Look for repeatable lap pace, tire wear, brake pedal stability and predictable behavior as temperatures change.
Common mistakes that produce misleading comparisons
- Using a lap-time headline as a guaranteed owner result. Professional drivers and controlled manufacturer events are not representative of every track-day driver.
- Attributing the whole lap gain to one tire. The 2026 Manthey result used optional Cup 2 R tires, but the report does not isolate the tire’s contribution from the rest of the package, driver or conditions.
- Mixing generations. A 992.2 kit, tire and chassis cannot be evaluated as though they were a 992.1 kit.
- Ignoring setup work. A sophisticated damper is not automatically faster without correct ride height, alignment, corner weights and damping settings.
- Assuming road legality or comfort. Track-focused aero, coilovers, pads and tires can affect noise, ground clearance, wet behavior, tire wear and daily usability. Check local rules and your intended use.
- Ordering by model name alone. Verify the exact vehicle generation, factory options, wheel diameter, brake package and tire specification with the supplier or Porsche Center.
- Comparing incomplete prices. A parts-only quote may omit installation, alignment, consumables, taxes or a required wheel and tire combination.
- Changing several variables at once. If aero, springs, pads and tires are replaced together, you cannot identify which change helped or caused a problem.
- Ignoring inspection and transport. Low splitters, exposed aero pieces and track tires need protection during loading, storage and road travel; check fasteners and clearances regularly.
A practical decision sequence
Choose Manthey first when the package is the product
Select this path when you value a single, Porsche-linked specification more than experimenting with individual parts; want a documented Nordschleife development program; and prefer to begin with a known package through a Porsche Center. It is also the simpler route when you do not want to become the integrator of multiple suppliers.
Choose aftermarket first when the car has a defined limitation
Start with a configurable build when you know the problem: brake fade, tire overheating, insufficient front support, excessive road harshness or a need for a particular wheel and tire. Set a target, change the minimum number of variables, measure tire temperatures and wear, and make one setup change at a time. A reputable specialist should be able to explain fitment, baseline settings, alignment requirements and service support.

Use a hybrid strategy carefully
Combining selected Manthey and aftermarket parts may be possible, but it is no longer the exact package represented by Manthey’s published testing. Confirm compatibility and aero balance before mixing components, and have the completed car inspected and aligned by a shop familiar with the 992 GT3.
Bottom line for a 992 GT3 owner
The Manthey Kit is the defensible choice for an integrated, Porsche/Manthey-developed track package with official-channel support and manufacturer-published performance evidence. An aftermarket build can be the better technical answer for a driver with a precise goal, a preferred supplier or a need to control the specification and spending in stages.
Do not claim that either path is universally faster, cheaper, safer or more durable from the available figures. Make the decision on the same-generation fitment, complete installed specification, circuit, tires, setup support, warranty terms and quality of the comparison data. Verify current availability and regional conditions with the relevant Porsche Center or aftermarket installer before committing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Manthey Kit faster than an aftermarket setup?
There is no controlled same-car, same-driver comparison in the published figures. Manthey’s 6:55.737 992.1 result, Porsche’s 6:52.981 992.2 report and Manthey’s 6:50.863 2026 result demonstrate track development, not universal superiority over every aftermarket build.
What is included in a 992.1 Manthey Kit?
The listed scope includes a lightweight wheel set, carbon aero discs, brake pads, splitter, flaps, underbody air guide, carbon rear wing with end plates, diffuser, four-way coilovers and steel-braided brake lines. Some items are optional or separately available, so confirm the exact build sheet.
What does the 992.2 kit’s 540 kg figure mean?
Manthey states 540 kg of total downforce at 285 km/h. It is a manufacturer figure at that speed, not a promise of the same load at road speeds or on every circuit.
Can I combine Manthey parts with aftermarket parts?
It may be possible, but the result is no longer the exact package represented by Manthey’s testing. Confirm generation-specific fitment, wheel and brake clearance, aero balance, alignment and damper settings with a qualified 992 GT3 specialist.
Recommended Free Tools
Does the Manthey Kit change the factory warranty?
Manthey’s 30 September 2026 release states that the factory warranty remains unchanged. Confirm the current regional terms, installation requirements and coverage details with the Porsche Center handling your car.
How should I compare costs?
Compare complete installed systems, not catalog prices. Include optional parts, tires, pads and fluid, labor, alignment, corner-weighting, shipping, taxes, setup time and replacement consumables, then obtain a vehicle-specific written quotation.
The Bottom Line
Choose Manthey for an integrated Porsche-linked package and documented development path; choose aftermarket for configurable, goal-specific tuning. Match generation, specification, tires, setup and test conditions before drawing conclusions, and verify current fitment, warranty and regional pricing with the installer.
