The Pop-top Unimog motorhome in this feature is a specific Bliss Mobil 11 Foot Lifting Top camper module, not a mass-market motorhome model. Its roof lowers the travel profile and lifts at camp to create more headroom. The detailed layout and equipment below describe a 2020 build; Bliss Mobil’s current product information confirms the model family remains available, but does not establish that every 2020 feature is still standard.
What the 11 Foot Lifting Top is
New Atlas reported on August 13, 2020, that Bliss Mobil had redesigned its 11-foot expedition camper module and mounted one on a 435-series Mercedes-Benz Unimog U 1300 for an owner. The aluminum-framed module was reported at about 3.4 m long and 1,600 kg. This is a historical build report, not a current vehicle listing. New Atlas’s 2020 feature covers that example.

Bliss Mobil’s current 11 ft Expedition Camper Unit information describes a 3,358 mm body length and approximately 1,600 kg dry weight, with an aluminum frame. The unit is intended for trucks with a minimum 3,250 mm wheelbase. The manufacturer says the Lifting Top suits Unimogs and other trucks with relatively low cabins. Dry weight and historical module weight are not necessarily identical measures: equipment and configuration affect the final figure.
How the lifting roof changes the travel profile
For the 2020 Unimog build, New Atlas reported a height of about 3 m with the roof closed and roughly 3.5 m with it raised, with an overall vehicle length of 568 cm. The closed roof was described as lowering the center of gravity and driving profile; that is a claimed benefit, not an independently measured handling result. Raising the roof adds about half a metre of height, so route clearance must account for the open configuration at camp as well as the closed vehicle on the road.

The lower closed profile is the point of the design: travel with the top down, then lift it for more room when parked. It does not make the Unimog a low vehicle, nor does the published height alone establish clearance for a particular route. Confirm the actual truck, tires, accessories, and roof measurements before planning travel.
Inside the 2020 Unimog camper
Sleeping and seating
The front U-shaped dinette sat beneath a lift-away bed measuring 200 × 140 cm. The dinette converted into a second bed measuring 200 × 145 cm, for a reported capacity of up to four sleepers. That capacity belongs to this convertible layout; the manufacturer’s current overview describes the general 11-foot interior as a two-person expedition vehicle, while its Lifting Top listing describes a couch/bed arrangement that can sleep up to four. Check the exact configuration rather than assuming all 11-foot units have the same capacity.
Kitchen and bathroom
The reported kitchen package included a two-burner induction cooktop, an 85 L refrigerator/freezer, a separate 40 L freezer, and a sink. A combination microwave oven was optional. A rear wet bath combined a shower and toilet.
Water, power, and climate
New Atlas reported a 410 L fresh-water tank with a multi-filter system, boiler, and electric pump, plus a 400 Ah lithium-ion battery bank charged by roof-mounted solar panels and the vehicle alternator. The heating and cooling equipment included electric floor heating, diesel air heating, and reverse-cycle air conditioning. These are specifications of the 2020 build, not confirmation of current standard equipment.

The 2020 article described a smart home system for monitoring and controlling climate, lighting, and water. It said the system could automatically shut off the water supply if it detected a leak. Physical overrides backed up the smart controls, an important distinction in an off-road expedition vehicle where electronic convenience should not be the only way to operate basic systems.
The reported interfaces included a global Wi-Fi router using 4G and a Garmin Overlander touchscreen device in both the living area and truck cab. These are historical details from the reported build; current inclusion, product availability, and compatibility are not established by current Bliss Mobil product information.
What current Bliss Mobil information confirms
Bliss Mobil’s current product page supports the basic dimensions, approximate dry weight, aluminum-frame construction, minimum wheelbase, and suitability of the Lifting Top for Unimogs and other low-cab trucks. Its delivery gallery shows multiple 11-foot Unimog configurations. The manufacturer’s news page includes a January 2026 report of an 11-foot Lifting Top on a Unimog U5000 Doka, evidence that this product family continues to be built on Unimog chassis.
Those current pages do not verify that the 2020 example’s tank, appliances, battery, climate equipment, connectivity, or control interfaces remain standard. Buyers should request a current equipment list and confirm which options are included in the specific module and truck package.
Historical price and buying checks
New Atlas reported a 2020 starting price of €180,000 for the module, before shipping and import taxes and excluding the truck. Its approximate US-dollar conversion was about US$212,550 at the time. This is a historical reported price, not a current quote.
For a realistic comparison with another off-road expedition vehicle, establish the complete truck-and-module configuration rather than comparing camper-module prices alone. Key checks include:
