The electric bike in the headline is the Pininfarina E-voluzione, a design by the Italian studio best known for its automotive work. It was reported as a 2016 Eurobike debut, with an integrated carbon frame, Brose mid-motor and belt drive. Present-day price and availability are not established.
What is the Pininfarina electric bike called?
It is the Pininfarina E-voluzione, created in collaboration with Diavelo, a member of Accell Group, according to the iF Design listing. Architectural Digest reported that it debuted at Eurobike in Germany in 2016 and called it Pininfarina’s first electric-bike design (Architectural Digest, September 13, 2016).
What features and specifications were documented?
The NY Product Design Awards project entry presents the E-voluzione as an integration-focused design. It describes the battery, mid-engine, handlebar and stem, cockpit, cables and lighting as integrated into the bicycle, with the stated aim of improving weight distribution, balance, comfort and performance.
- Frame and parts: carbon frame and carbon parts.
- Motor and transmission: Brose mid-motor and belt-drive transmission.
- Battery: removable Panasonic battery. The award entry gives the figures as “500W, 13.6A, 36V”; these are reproduced as stated and do not independently verify battery capacity.
- Brakes and components: hydraulic disc brakes and Shimano components.
- Lighting: an integrated lighting system, according to the award entry.
Why do published weight and style descriptions differ?
The two sources give different weights: the NY Product Design Awards entry reports 16 kg, while Architectural Digest’s 2016 article reports 35 pounds. The sources do not explain the discrepancy, so neither figure should be treated as a reconciled specification.

The award entry names three lines—Elegance, Hi-Tech and Dynamic. Architectural Digest instead described three styles as a cruiser, a mid-level performance model and a sporty version. Those descriptions are not a one-to-one match, so the labels are best kept attributed to their respective sources.
Can you still buy the Pininfarina E-voluzione?
The available sources do not establish whether the E-voluzione is currently sold, what it costs today, or whether it has an active retail listing. Architectural Digest said in 2016 that prices had not yet been released; that historical note is not evidence of a present-day price or sales status.
