The City of Perth announced council support in September 2024 for two proposed events: an EV kart championship planned for Langley Park and surrounds in April 2025, and a K-pop event proposed for October 2025. They were proposals, not confirmation that either event went ahead. Available reports do not establish their eventual status.
What the City proposed
The City’s 25 September 2024 council update described two proposals under its events policy: a Perth EV Kart Championship and a K-Pop Culture event.
Perth EV Kart Championship
The proposed championship was planned for Langley Park and surrounds in April 2025. The City said it would feature the top 20 drivers from the global EV Karting World Championship and described the electric karts as capable of reaching 160 km/h. The announcement did not specify a race format, confirm a driver list, or provide further technical details.
A 10 October 2024 PerthNow report said Langley Park could host the championship on 25 April. The City’s announcement gave only the planned month, so the specific day should be treated as a contemporary report about a conditional plan, not a confirmed event date.

Where the karting proposal was planned
Langley Park is a City of Perth grassed venue beside the Swan River. The City says it is used for cultural festivals, carnivals, and sporting activities. Its venue page lists capacity at 35,000+ people, a general venue figure—not an attendance estimate for the proposed championship.

Funding was a condition, not a settled event budget
The City’s September 2024 update said the karting proposal depended on additional revenue, including an estimated $200,000 from the State Government or corporate sponsorship. PerthNow later reported that the council allocated $170,000 toward each proposal and that further State Government funding was required: $170,000 for the karting proposal and $694,000 for the K-pop proposal.
