The latest located official centre-by-centre figures cover 2021–2023, with the 2023 results published in a Western Australian parliamentary answer dated 12 March 2024. They are historical pass rates, not live 2026 rates. In 2023, Success recorded the highest reported rate among listed centres at 48.9%; Mirrabooka had the lowest at 34.2%.
Success rate at every Perth driving test centre
The official metric is “Pass Rate Against Fail (%)”. These figures come from a parliamentary answer and describe reported outcomes at each site; they do not show that a centre is easier or predict an individual candidate’s result. A dash means the answer supplied no figure for that year, not a zero.

Which Perth driving test centre had the highest pass rate?
Success DVS had the highest reported 2023 rate, 48.9%; Butler was next at 47.4%, and Cannington recorded 47.1%. Mirrabooka was lowest among the listed centres at 34.2%. The difference between the highest and lowest listed 2023 rates was 14.7 percentage points.

How the reported rates changed
The series shows variation across years, but it does not explain why outcomes changed. Mirrabooka rose from 21.9% in 2021 to 34.2% in 2023, while Success rose from 29.0% to 48.9% over the same years. Cannington fell from 44.3% in 2021 to 31.1% in 2022, then reached 47.1% in 2023.
Butler appears only in the 2023 figures, so there is no earlier value in this series for a year-on-year comparison. The 2024 answer also provides occupied assessor FTEs, but does not define whether the rates apply only to first attempts or describe candidate-level adjustments. Avoid reading more into the metric than the published answer states.
Is one Perth centre the hardest place to pass?
The figures identify lower and higher reported rates, not the hardest or easiest test route. They do not establish assessor bias, differences in candidate readiness, route difficulty or any other cause of the gap. A WA parliamentary committee report recorded concern that location differences could indicate inconsistent application of assessment standards, while also noting broader systemic issues; that concern is not proof that a particular centre is easier or that assessors there apply different standards.
The committee report reproduced older 2018 figures for ten Perth and Peel locations. Those rates ranged from 36.3% at Mirrabooka to 57.4% at Cannington, and the report noted variation of more than 21 percentage points. Its list included Willagee but not Butler, unlike the later series, so it should not be used as a current centre ranking. The report is available from the WA parliamentary committee.
Why the 31% metropolitan figure is different
A WA Government media statement published on 16 March 2023 said the metropolitan average pass rate across the preceding two years was 31%. That is a two-year aggregate, not the 2023 rate for any one centre and not directly comparable with a single-year centre result. See the Government of Western Australia statement.
What the Perth Practical Driving Assessment tests
Transport WA describes the Practical Driving Assessment (PDA) as a check that you are ready to drive without supervision with a provisional licence. Assessors evaluate vehicle operation and guidance, applying road rules, fitting in with traffic, and seeing and responding to hazards. The test takes around 35–50 minutes and has five sections: three following assessor directions and two set exercises. Assessment items include flow, looking behind, movement, path, responsiveness, signalling and vehicle management. These details are from the department’s learner-driver guidance.

Build varied supervised experience
Transport WA recommends more than 50 hours of supervised practice across low, medium and heavy traffic; freeways, highways and country roads; fine weather and rain; and day, evening and night driving. The department also recommends practising the exercises in its learner-driver booklet and taking a practice PDA. Its guidance says: “You should only take a PDA when you feel confident that you have the skills to drive safely without a supervisor.”
Check eligibility and booking requirements
For a first car licence, the booking page says applicants must be at least 17, hold a learner’s permit for at least six months, pass the Hazard Perception Test and meet the supervised-hours requirement if under 25. Under-25 applicants must record at least 50 supervised hours, including five at night. Age and licence-class exceptions apply, including for motorcycles and mopeds; check the PDA page for the requirements that match your situation.

Know the vehicle, arrival and fee requirements
Arrive 15 minutes early and provide a licensed, roadworthy vehicle of the correct class. The current car PDA page lists the first PDA as included in the learner permit application fee and each subsequent resit at $120.50; that page was updated 31 March 2026, and fees may change. The latest official site-by-site series located for this article ends in 2023. No official centre-specific 2024 or 2025 result is included here, so the table cannot establish a current 2026 ranking.
