Pakistan’s latest reported fuel-price revision was mixed, not a massive increase: petrol rose by Rs1.82 to Rs396.65 per litre, while high-speed diesel (HSD) fell by Rs0.91 to Rs394.94 per litre. Radio Pakistan reported the changes on October 7, with the rates taking effect Thursday, October 8, 2026.
What are the new petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan?
The rates below are those reported for the October 8 revision. Radio Pakistan attributed the figures to a Petroleum Division press release. The Petroleum Division’s Latest News page also listed an October 8 price notice, but its detailed notice was not available in the retrieved material, so this is not a complete official schedule for every petroleum product.
| Fuel | New reported price | Change | Announcement | Effective date |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Petrol (motor spirit) | Rs396.65 per litre | Up Rs1.82 per litre | October 7, 2026; Radio Pakistan, citing a Petroleum Division press release | Thursday, October 8, 2026 |
| High-speed diesel (HSD) | Rs394.94 per litre | Down Rs0.91 per litre | October 7, 2026; Radio Pakistan, citing a Petroleum Division press release | Thursday, October 8, 2026 |
These are reported per-litre prices. The available notice does not provide a full breakdown of taxes, levies, or other petroleum products, nor does it establish any station-specific differences.
Did petrol and diesel prices both increase massively?
No. In this revision, petrol increased slightly and HSD decreased slightly. The headline claim that both fuels rose massively does not describe the rates reported for October 8.

- Low battery consumption - the app is optimized to use the battery wisely.
A much larger increase occurred earlier in 2026: the Associated Press reported that petrol rose by Rs137 per litre and diesel by Rs184.49 per litre in an April price shock. Those figures belong to that separate episode, not the October 8 revision. AP quoted Petroleum Minister Pervez Malik calling the April increase “unavoidable.”
How do the October 8 rates compare with October 1?
On October 1, APP reported petrol at Rs387.40 per litre after a Rs0.14 cut, and HSD at Rs400.35 after a Rs1.89 cut. Those October 1 rates were based on ex-depot prices determined by OGRA. The October 8 rates came after intervening revisions, so comparing the two dates alone does not show the net effect of one uninterrupted adjustment.

For the October 1 adjustment specifically, APP cited international-market developments, including Platts rates, premiums, and related costs. That explanation should not be treated as a confirmed account of what drove the October 8 changes.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What does the change mean for drivers?
The reported adjustment raises the per-litre cost of petrol slightly and reduces the HSD price slightly. AP has reported that rising fuel prices are putting pressure on transport, food, and other living costs, but the available reporting does not quantify how the October 8 revision affects fares or food prices.

AP also reported on October 6 that more than 9 million low-income people were benefiting from a targeted fuel subsidy program. Its account described weekly motorcycle and three-wheeler support of Rs500, up to four tokens a month (a maximum of Rs2,000 monthly), and a Rs100-per-litre discount for eligible cars of up to 800 cc, for up to 10 litres every 10 days and a maximum of three tokens a month (up to Rs3,000). AP said tokens were delivered by text message and eligibility was checked at participating fuel stations. These are reported program details, not verified current enrollment instructions; check official government guidance for current eligibility, availability, and redemption steps before relying on them.
