Orion Motors’ 365 camper conversion is designed to solve a specific van-life puzzle: carry bulky adventure gear, then turn the same space into sleeping room for five. New Atlas described the conversion in November 2024 as a five-seat, five-berth build on an extended-length, high-roof Ford Transit cargo van. Its beds and sofa lift or fold away to open the interior for cargo.
What the Orion 365 is—and what “Ford XL” means
The 365 is an Orion Motors conversion, not a Ford factory camper model. New Atlas reported that it was built on a 264-inch (671-cm) high-roof Ford Transit Extended Length cargo van. The article’s “Ford XL” wording refers to the long Transit base; the conversion and its equipment are Orion’s.
The November 19, 2024 report is the source for the specifications and prices below. It does not establish whether those details, the available base-van model year or drivetrain, or ordering availability remain the same in 2026.
How the layout sleeps five
Two lift-away beds provide four berths, while a folding sofa makes the fifth. The beds lift toward the roof and the sofa folds against the wall, clearing floor space for daytime use or cargo. The rear bed can also be positioned to leave room below it for taller equipment or an additional sleeper.

This arrangement prioritizes adaptability over a permanently configured bedroom: the same interior can serve as sleeping space at night and a more open load area when the furniture is stowed.
How it makes room for adventure gear
With the beds lifted and sofa folded, the van’s interior can accommodate bulky equipment. New Atlas described floor-integrated L-track, mounting points beneath the rear bed, and rear seats that can be removed from their rails. Those features give owners ways to secure or rearrange a load, but the report’s examples—including kayaks, bikes and motorcycles—are not a guarantee that every item or combination will fit. Actual fit depends on the gear’s dimensions and how the interior is configured.

Kitchen, water and electrical equipment
The reported kitchen includes a portable dual-burner stove, stainless-steel sink and swiveling 59-liter refrigerator. The water setup was listed with two 19-liter canisters, one for fresh water and one for waste; an optional 95-liter fresh-water tank was offered with the water-heating package.
New Atlas described a modular EcoFlow electrical system rated at 450 Ah, with a 3,000-W inverter, 400-W solar array, 250-A alternator and 30-A shore-power converter. These are the ratings in the 2024 report, not a current equipment confirmation. The available description does not specify how long the system will power particular appliances; runtime depends on the loads used and charging conditions.
What the reported price included
On November 19, 2024, New Atlas reported a US$90,000 conversion-package price that excluded the base van, and turnkey builds starting at US$155,000. These are historical figures, not verified 2026 quotes. The report does not provide a current total build price or establish which options were included in the starting turnkey figure.
