Ford plans to launch five affordable new vehicles by the end of 2030, with four assembled in the United States. The only vehicle named so far is Fathom, a midsize electric pickup with a reported target starting price of about $28,000 and deliveries expected in autumn 2027. The other four models have not been fully identified.
What Ford has announced—and what remains unknown
Ford’s December 2025 announcement committed to five new affordable vehicles by the end of the decade, four of them planned for U.S. assembly. At the February 2026 National Automobile Dealers Association show, Ford Blue and Model e president Andrew Frick described a broader lineup spanning cars, trucks, SUVs, and vans, with reported starting prices under $40,000. That price framing was reported from Frick’s remarks; it was not specified in Ford’s December announcement.
Frick said the vehicles would be “across our lineup of cars, trucks, SUVs, vans, and it will be multi-energy,” according to Ford Authority. The remark signals different vehicle types and powertrains, not five fully disclosed models. Ford has not published a complete list of names, specifications, individual prices, or launch dates.
The confirmed vehicle so far: Fathom electric pickup
Ford’s first vehicle on its Universal EV Platform is a midsize electric pickup. Ford CEO Jim Farley initially gave it a target starting MSRP of about $30,000 in August 2025. Reuters reported in August 2026 that Ford had named the truck Fathom and set a later target starting price of about $28,000. These are dated targets, not confirmed final MSRPs or guaranteed transaction prices.

Reuters reported that preorders were expected in early 2027 and customer deliveries in autumn 2027. Those are forward-looking expected dates, not a guarantee of when every buyer will receive a truck or when it will be broadly available. Ford’s earlier announcement described the pickup as Louisville-assembled.
Two more vehicle plans have production details
Ford’s December 2025 strategy identified two additional categories, but did not give model names:

- Affordable gas-powered trucks: Production is planned to start in 2029 at Tennessee Truck Plant.
- Commercial van: A new gas- and hybrid-powered van is planned to start production in 2029 at Ohio Assembly.
A production start is not the same as customer deliveries or general availability. The announcement does not establish the exact timing, price, or specifications for either vehicle.
What the five-vehicle plan does not tell buyers yet
The disclosed information is not enough to compare or rank the five vehicles. The names and model-level details of the remaining vehicles are not established in Ford’s announcements described here. Individual powertrains, prices, body styles, specifications, and launch schedules remain unannounced. Suggestions published elsewhere about which existing or future Ford models might be included are speculation, not confirmation.

When Ford releases details, the useful comparisons will be actual starting MSRP and what it includes, powertrain, body style and utility, production and delivery timing, assembly location, and geographic availability. Until then, the under-$40,000 description applies to the reported plan framing, not a published price sheet for five named vehicles.

Ford forecast in December 2025 that about 50% of its global volume would be hybrids, extended-range EVs, or fully electric by 2030, compared with 17% in 2025. That is a company-wide global forecast across several powertrain types; it does not mean half of these five vehicles will be electric. The announced mix already includes an electric pickup alongside plans for gas trucks and a gas- and hybrid-powered commercial van.

For context, Ford reported U.S. sales of 155,051 Maverick pickups in 2025, up 18.2%. That is historical sales information about the Maverick, not a forecast for Fathom or any other vehicle in the new plan.
