Short answer: the Opel Grandland Electric and Peugeot E-3008 share Stellantis’ STLA Medium electric-vehicle platform, but they are not the same car. The Grandland is the more upright, conventional SUV, while the E-3008 uses a fastback profile and Peugeot’s Panoramic i-Cockpit. Battery versions, range figures, charging times, trim equipment and national-market specifications determine which is the better fit.
This comparison treats “Opel electric SUV” as the Opel Grandland Electric, the closest current Opel counterpart to the Peugeot E-3008. Figures below are manufacturer or national-market specifications, mainly from Opel/Vauxhall and Peugeot announcements; WLTP results are laboratory homologation values, not guarantees of everyday driving range.

1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesAre the Grandland Electric and E-3008 the same car?
No. They are closely related vehicles engineered within the same Stellantis programme, but a shared platform is not a shared body shell or identical specification. STLA Medium provides common structural and electrical foundations; Opel and Peugeot then apply different exterior designs, software interfaces, suspension tuning, seats, trim walk-ups and equipment strategies.

The relationship is similar to two products built from a common toolkit. Battery chemistry, motor outputs and charging hardware may overlap, yet the final vehicle can differ in dimensions, aerodynamic shape, instrumentation and the equipment included in a particular country. Opel’s early press material described a 97 kWh net battery as an upcoming Grandland option, while later UK information centred on a 73 kWh model. Peugeot’s launch announcement listed several E-3008 powertrains from the outset. Availability has changed over time, so the local configurator and technical sheet matter more than a general model name.
Powertrains and range: compare versions, not badges
Peugeot E-3008 line-up
Peugeot’s launch announcement described three electric configurations:
- Electric 210: 210 hp (157 kW), front-wheel drive and 525 km WLTP in the launch material. A later Peugeot announcement gives 529 km for Electric 210, reflecting a market or homologation update.
- Electric 230 Long Range: 230 hp (170 kW), front-wheel drive and up to 700 km WLTP.
- Dual Motor: 320 hp (240 kW), all-wheel drive and 525 km WLTP in the launch announcement.
The 700 km claim belongs to the Long Range front-drive version. It should not be used to represent the shorter-range E-3008 variants, nor should the Dual Motor’s output be assumed to deliver the same range as the Long Range car simply because both use the E-3008 name.

Opel Grandland Electric line-up
Opel’s 2024 press kit described a Grandland Electric with a 97 kWh net battery capable of around 700 km WLTP. That document presented the larger-battery model as forthcoming. Later UK Vauxhall information lists a 73 kWh net-battery Grandland Electric with up to 323 miles WLTP, and UK all-wheel-drive information quotes up to 311 miles WLTP for that version.

Those figures are not a clean battery-for-battery comparison with Peugeot’s published range. The Opel 97 kWh statement and Peugeot’s 700 km statement refer to long-range front-drive configurations, while the UK 323-mile and 311-mile figures describe different Grandland versions. Check the exact battery capacity, motor layout, wheel size and trim in your country before comparing prices or range.
What WLTP range can—and cannot—tell you
WLTP is useful for comparing versions tested under the same regulatory cycle, but it is not a promise of motorway range. Temperature, speed, wind, payload, tyre choice, cabin heating or air conditioning and battery age all affect consumption. A buyer who regularly drives at high motorway speeds should compare charging stops and usable battery capacity, not just the headline number.
Charging differences
DC rapid charging
| Vehicle/version | Maximum DC rate | Published 20–80% time | Qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grandland Electric, UK 73 kWh | 160 kW | 26 minutes | UK Vauxhall manufacturer information; time varies with battery temperature, state of charge and charger output |
| E-3008 standard electric version | Up to 160 kW | 30 minutes | Peugeot electric-range announcement |
| E-3008 Long Range | Up to 160 kW | 27 minutes | Peugeot electric-range announcement; applies to the Long Range configuration |
A public charger rated at 160 kW does not force the vehicle to accept 160 kW throughout a session. The car’s battery state, temperature and charging curve determine the actual power. The quoted 20–80% windows are therefore more useful for trip planning than a promise that every stop will take exactly the stated number of minutes.
Home AC charging
Peugeot’s electric-range material specifies an 11 kW three-phase onboard AC charger for the E-3008. Opel/Vauxhall’s quoted 26-minute figure concerns DC rapid charging; the material used here does not establish one universal AC charging specification for every Grandland market and trim. Confirm the onboard charger, cable supplied and phase requirements on the exact vehicle order.

Home charging also depends on the property. A wallbox may need a dedicated circuit, load-management equipment or a three-phase supply to reach its rated output. Vauxhall has advertised a wallbox contribution or public-charging credit with one UK all-wheel-drive offer, but such incentives are time-limited and do not establish compatibility with a particular charger. Verify connector standards, electrical capacity, installation terms and the vehicle’s onboard charger before buying equipment.
Which SUV is bigger and which is more practical?
Published UK Grandland dimensions make it the longer vehicle on paper: 4,650 mm versus the E-3008’s 4.54 m launch figure, a difference of roughly 110 mm. The Grandland’s UK-listed wheelbase is also longer than Peugeot’s published 2.73 m figure. However, the width figures are not directly equivalent: the UK Grandland guide gives 2,108 mm including mirrors, while Peugeot quotes 1.89 m without the same stated mirror convention. Do not use those numbers to predict garage clearance without checking like-for-like body and mirror measurements.
The Grandland’s UK model-year 2025A guide lists 550 litres behind the rear seats and 1,645 litres with the seats folded. The E-3008 launch material used for this comparison does not provide a matching boot measurement. Because manufacturers can measure to different loading heights or include different under-floor areas, declaring a luggage-space winner without equivalent national data would be misleading.

- Grandland: the more upright body is likely to feel familiar to drivers moving from a conventional family SUV, and its published boot figures provide a clear reference for cargo planning in the UK specification.
- E-3008: the fastback roof is a styling priority. Check rear headroom, child-seat access and the exact boot opening in person if you regularly carry tall passengers or bulky objects.
- Either model: measure your parking space using the local technical sheet, especially if the quoted width includes mirrors in one document but not the other.
Exterior and cabin design
Opel Grandland Electric
Opel positions the Grandland around its 3D Vizor front treatment, an illuminated Blitz emblem and Intelli-Lux HD lighting. Opel’s material says the lighting system uses more than 50,000 elements. The cabin also highlights a Pixel Box storage area and recycled interior fabric. These are brand-stated design and equipment features; their standard or optional status depends on trim and market.

Peugeot E-3008
Peugeot’s major interior differentiator is the Panoramic i-Cockpit, paired with the E-3008’s fastback exterior. The interface, display arrangement and steering-wheel relationship are therefore central to the Peugeot experience, whereas the Opel’s presentation is designed around its own cockpit layout and storage details.
Neither description proves that one cabin is more comfortable, quieter or easier to use. Seat shape, screen software, physical controls and driver preferences matter, and the available equipment can change between entry, mid-range and high trims. Sit in the exact version you intend to buy rather than relying on a launch photograph.

Both vehicles can be specified with modern assistance and convenience systems, but no single identical equipment list is published across countries. Opel’s communications give particular prominence to Intelli-Lux HD lighting, while Peugeot’s launch material focuses on the Panoramic i-Cockpit and its electric powertrain range. A feature shown in a press image may be optional, restricted to a high trim or unavailable in a particular market.

This checklist prevents a like-for-like mistake in which a highly equipped press car is compared with an entry-level retail version.
Which one should you choose?
Choose the Grandland Electric if these priorities fit
- You prefer an upright SUV shape and Opel’s Vizor design language.
- The UK-style 550-litre boot specification and folded-seat capacity match your luggage needs.
- You want the Grandland version with the published 26-minute 20–80% DC claim, subject to confirming that the 73 kWh configuration is sold locally.
- Intelli-Lux HD lighting, Pixel Box storage and recycled cabin materials are more appealing than Peugeot’s interior presentation.
Choose the E-3008 if these priorities fit
- You want a fastback silhouette and Peugeot’s Panoramic i-Cockpit.
- You are considering the 230 Long Range front-drive model, whose published WLTP figure reaches up to 700 km.
- You need the Peugeot Dual Motor option with 320 hp and all-wheel drive.
- The local E-3008 specification offers the screen, seating and assistance equipment you prefer at the price you have been quoted.
For long-distance driving
Start with the exact version, not the badge. Compare the homologated range, usable battery information if supplied, DC charging curve, route availability and winter performance expectations. A shorter-range car with a broader fast-charging network can be more convenient than a nominally longer-range car whose charging stops are harder to plan.
For family and cargo use
Use the published Grandland luggage figures as a UK reference, then inspect the E-3008 with your own child seats, pram or equipment. Fastback styling can affect rear access even when exterior length is similar. Take measurements from the loading floor to the parcel shelf and from the tailgate opening, not only the manufacturer’s litres figure.
Buying checklist: avoid the common comparison mistakes
- Write down the exact vehicle. Record battery net capacity, motor output, drivetrain, trim, wheel size and model year.
- Keep units and markets attached. Do not place a UK miles figure beside a continental-kilometre figure without identifying the source market and WLTP basis.
- Separate launch promises from current stock. A 97 kWh Grandland described as forthcoming in 2024 material may not be the vehicle currently orderable in your country.
- Check charging hardware. Confirm maximum DC rate, 20–80% claim, AC charger rating, cable and connector before arranging a wallbox.
- Verify dimensions using one convention. Mirror-inclusive width and body-only width are not interchangeable.
- Request the written equipment list. Mark each lighting, display, assistance and comfort feature as standard or optional for the quoted trim.
- Plan for real conditions. Ask how the quoted range and charging time were measured, and budget extra time or energy for cold weather, high speeds and a full load.
Verdict
The Grandland Electric and E-3008 are technical relatives rather than rebadged twins. Peugeot offers the clearest published spread from a 210 hp front-drive model to a 230 hp Long Range version and a 320 hp Dual Motor variant, while Opel’s published figures span a UK 73 kWh model and a larger-battery configuration described in earlier material. The Grandland is the longer, more upright SUV in the cited dimensions and has published UK boot capacities; the E-3008 counters with its fastback design and Panoramic i-Cockpit.
The sensible winner depends on the exact local specification. Compare one battery and drivetrain configuration at a time, then verify current range, charging, dimensions and trim equipment in the national technical sheet before signing an order.
