The “truck” in Deere’s CES announcement is an articulated quarry dump truck, not a road-going pickup. Deere has announced tractor technology developments, including a Canada-market 5E utility tractor with electronically controlled eHydro transmission in June 2026, alongside autonomy and precision-upgrade offerings.
Is John Deere coming out with a truck in 2026?
John Deere has not announced a consumer pickup for 2026 in the official sources cited here. That does not establish what the company may be considering internally; it means there is no public Deere pickup announcement in these materials.
The confusion may come from Deere’s CES 2025 announcement, which included the 460 P-Tier articulated dump truck. It is an off-highway machine intended for quarry operations, not a consumer pickup. Deere’s CES 2025 announcement also introduced autonomous agricultural equipment.
What tractor technology has John Deere announced or is offering?
These developments are not all new for model year 2026. The 5E/eHydro tractor was announced in 2026; Deere’s autonomy announcement dates to January 2025, while its precision-upgrade pages describe offerings without establishing that they debuted in 2026.

5E three-cylinder tractor with electronically controlled eHydro
On June 9, 2026, John Deere Canada announced a 5E three-cylinder utility tractor equipped with electronically controlled eHydro transmission. Deere described it as the first utility tractor in its lineup with that transmission distinction. The announcement is regional: it does not by itself confirm availability in the United States or other markets. See John Deere Canada’s announcement for the stated details.
Autonomous 9RX for large-scale field work
At CES on January 6, 2025, Deere announced a second-generation autonomy kit based on computer vision, artificial intelligence and cameras. Deere described the autonomous 9RX for large-scale agriculture and tillage. Its CES release says 16 cameras, arranged in pods, provide a 360-degree view; improved depth calculations are intended to let the tractor pull more equipment and travel faster. Those are manufacturer-described design aims, not independently verified performance results.

Deere’s rationale is labor flexibility. CTO Jahmy Hindman said, “Our agriculture, construction, and commercial landscaping customers all have work that must get done at certain times of the day and year, yet there is not enough available and skilled labor to do the work.” That is Deere’s explanation for expanding autonomy, not an independent finding about labor markets.
Autonomous 5ML orchard tractor
The same CES announcement described an autonomous 5ML orchard tractor with lidar sensors intended to help it navigate dense tree canopies. Deere initially described the machine with a diesel engine and said a comparable-size battery-electric tractor would follow. The announcement does not establish that the future electric version is available now.

Autonomy components, monitoring and upgrade paths
Deere describes its autonomous tractor system as combining 360-degree cameras, a processor and neural-network image classification. Operators can monitor the machine and receive alerts through Operations Center Mobile. Deere says select 8R, 8RX, 9R and 9RX tractors and named tillage implements have autonomy-ready components in base configurations; it also describes an upgrade route for selected existing equipment. That is not a claim that every Deere tractor can be retrofitted. Check the specific machine and configuration with a dealer or Deere’s autonomous tractor information.
Precision upgrades for existing equipment
Deere’s Precision Upgrades page lists options for selected tractors, air seeders and sprayers, including autonomy upgrades, rear implement Ethernet, air-seeder metering upgrades, nozzle control and See & Spray. Availability depends on the machine and its configuration.

One listed route is Precision Essentials: Deere describes a one-upfront-cost kit with a G5 or G5 Plus Display, StarFire 7500 Receiver and JDLink Modem. Deere says the kit can provide access to guidance and automation tools such as AutoTrac. The page does not establish a universal price or compatibility across machines, so confirm the eligible model, model year, required software or licenses and total cost before choosing an upgrade.
See & Spray targeted application
Deere says See & Spray uses camera vision and machine learning to distinguish in-season crops from weeds, enabling selective spraying. The company lists a Premium Precision Upgrade for specified boom configurations on model-year 2018–2026 R-Series and 400/600 Series Deere sprayers. Eligibility is limited to those stated families and configurations; it should not be read as universal sprayer support.

Before budgeting for autonomy, guidance or targeted spraying, verify the machine-specific details rather than assuming a feature can be added to any Deere tractor or sprayer.
Quick Recap
- Machine and model year: Check the exact tractor, sprayer or implement, including model year and configuration.
- Installation route: Establish whether the feature is factory-ready, factory-installed or available as a retrofit for your machine.
- Required equipment: Confirm displays, receivers, modems, implement connections, software and licenses included or needed.
- Job to be done: Distinguish guidance and automation, autonomous tillage, orchard navigation and targeted spraying; they are different applications.
- Local availability and cost: Ask Deere or a local dealer about market availability, compatibility and the full cost for your equipment.
