The title blends separate projects: Moow, a customized NV200 workspace; a surf-oriented NV200 Vanette customization; and Surf-Out, an electric off-road concept. Nissan also showed distinct NV200 mobile-office and expedition concepts, plus a separate NV300 camper conversion. Here’s what each one actually is—and what the published material does and does not establish about availability.
Which Nissan van is the digital-nomad workation vehicle?
The closest match is Moow, a customized rear interior for the Nissan NV200 developed with Japanese furniture maker Itoki Corporation. Nissan presented it in a June 21, 2022 article as a workspace for people who want to work while traveling. It is not identified as a surf van or a production camper conversion.
Nissan’s featured user was professional photographer Hiromitsu Yasui. He described the interior as relaxing and said that opening the sliding door brought a beautiful view into his workspace. That is a testimonial published by Nissan, not an independent evaluation of the vehicle.
Nissan said in 2022 that it planned to begin selling Moow through dealerships in Japan “within this year.” That was a historical plan; the cited material does not establish whether sales began or whether Moow is currently available. Nissan’s Moow article, June 21, 2022.

The older NV200 concept was an expedition office
Nissan’s 2008 NV200 concept was built around fieldwork by a marine biologist and underwater photographer, rather than surfing or ordinary remote work. Its unusual centerpiece was a cargo pod that slid rearward to make equipment easier to access. The concept also included separate wet lockers, space for four air tanks, and storage for an underwater scooter.
For working and editing, Nissan described a drop-down computer table, two LCD editing screens and a swiveling passenger seat. The press kit also listed a two-person tent, refrigerator, sink, shower and laptop dock. In the described concept configuration, a generator powered the computer, shower, refrigerator and other electrical fixtures, with solar panels on the pod roof charging the generator. These are features of a concept design, not verified specifications for a vehicle offered to buyers.

Shiro Nakamura, identified in Nissan’s press kit as the company’s senior vice president and chief creative officer, explained the design approach: “A commercial vehicle has a specific job to perform, but that’s no reason to design a purely rational vehicle with no warmth.” The kit continues: “In the Nissan NV200 Concept, function becomes the aesthetic. The NV200 is a highly efficient tool but one with a human touch.” Nissan’s NV200 concept press kit, December 4, 2008.
The e-NV200 WORKSPACe put office equipment in an electric van
Announced on October 26, 2016, the e-NV200 WORKSPACe was a one-off mobile-office concept Nissan created with UK design workshop Studio Hardie. Its listed equipment included a fold-out desk, touchscreen computer, wireless internet, smartphone-controlled LED lighting, wireless phone charging, Bluetooth audio, a mini fridge and a coffee machine. Nissan presented it as a vision for mobile working and a demonstration of customization possibilities—not as a production camper.

Nissan’s release reported that coworking and hot-desking spaces worldwide grew by 36 percent during 2015. That figure is Nissan’s statement in its 2016 release, not a current statistic or an independently verified market measure. The release quoted Gareth Dunsmore, then identified as Nissan Europe’s Director of Electric Vehicles: “The Nissan e-NV200 is already a smart, sustainable transport solution for forward-thinking businesses, making it the ideal vehicle to be used as the basis for a mobile work place.” Nissan’s e-NV200 WORKSPACe announcement, October 26, 2016.
Surf-Out is not the surf-and-office van
Nissan’s Surf-Out is a separate EV concept. Its fact sheet focuses on a smooth ride over varied terrain, off-road performance, vehicle electric power and extended cargo space. It does not describe a camper interior, a surf-equipment layout or a mobile office. Calling it a digital-nomad camper would combine features from different projects that Nissan’s material keeps separate. Nissan’s Surf-Out concept fact sheet.

It evokes using the van after time at the sea, but it is not the Surf-Out concept or Moow workspace. Nissan Japan’s NV200 Vanette customization page.

For a more practical reference point, a Nissan Spain / BRAM brochure updated in February 2021 documents camper conversions for the separate NV300. Depending on configuration, listed equipment includes a bed, pop-up roof, swivel front seats, auxiliary AGM battery, USB and 12V outlets, heating, storage, kitchen fittings and water tanks; solar panels are optional. These are brochure details for NV300 conversions, not equipment specifications for Moow or the NV200 concepts. Nissan Spain / BRAM NV300 camper brochure, updated February 2021.

- 【Compatible Models】This cargo van shelving fits compact vans including Ford Transit Connect 2014+, Ram ProMaster City, and Nissan NV200 (42"W x 43"H x 13"D). Bottom Clearance: 11". Measure your wheel well height! IMPORTANT FOR NV200 OWNERS: To prevent blocking the sliding door, this shelf must be installed flush against the solid wall on the driver's side. Ensure the base cutout is aligned exactly over the wheel well for a perfect fit
- 【Accommodate Heavy Tools】Built with thick-gauge steel for jobsite-ready strength, each shelf supports up to 180 lbs to hold heavy-duty tools, equipment, bins, and supplies. A multi-point bolted mounting system helps keep the shelving stable and securely anchored during daily driving, rough roads, and repeated jobsite use.
- 【Secure Mounting】Get your cargo van shelving up and installed without the headache. The unit ships pre-drilled and includes a detailed step-by-step instruction manual (drilling into van side walls and floor required). The top mounting brackets rotate for angle adjustment, so you can dial in the perfect fit against your van's interior walls
- 【Silent Drive & Anti-Rattling】Unlike all-steel van shelves on the market, ours features a hollow polypropylene (PP) corrugated back panel that absorbs impact from shifting cargo and significantly cuts down on rattling noise during transport. Protect your van interior and equipment from damage, while enjoying a quieter, more comfortable drive
- 【Flexible and Adjustable Dividers】Customize your shelving to fit your cargo. Adjust shelf heights and horizontal divider spacing to fit tools, bins, parts, and gear of different sizes — from tall power tools to compact hardware boxes. This van shelving adapts to your workflow, keeping your cargo neatly sorted, easy to access, and ready for the job
The brochure also lists historical indicative prices for conversion equipment and states that they exclude 21% VAT and create no obligation for Nissan or the converter. Those figures are not current vehicle prices, so they are not a reliable basis for budgeting a van today.
Can you work remotely from a Nissan camper van?
The concepts show several ways Nissan has imagined working from a van: Moow’s customized NV200 workspace, the expedition-focused 2008 NV200 concept, and the electric e-NV200 WORKSPACe. The sources do not establish that any of these is currently available as a production camper combining a surf setup, sleeping facilities and a digital-nomad office.
If you are considering a real van conversion, treat the documented NV300 equipment as an example of conversion features—not as proof that Moow includes them or that the same package is offered for an NV200. Confirm the base vehicle, installed equipment, electrical system and current availability with the seller or converter. Nissan’s concept descriptions alone do not establish current specifications, prices, range, reliability or independent performance results.
