Nissan’s pricing makes a stronger case for its electric vehicles, but “the discount” depends on which model, model year and country you mean. In the U.S., the often-cited ARIYA cut of up to $6,000 was for the 2024 model versus 2023—not a current offer. In Canada, Nissan announced separate reductions for select 2026 ARIYA grades. For U.S. shoppers seeking a lower starting price, the 2026 LEAF starts at $29,990, but that is an MSRP, not a discount.
How much did Nissan cut the ARIYA price?
In the U.S., Nissan lowered prices on the 2024 ARIYA by as much as $6,000 compared with the 2023 model, according to 2024 Associated Press reporting carried by Edmunds. That is historical context: it does not establish a current rebate, dealer discount or price on a later model year. Read the Associated Press report via Edmunds.
The same report described a broader discounting environment, with Edmunds senior analyst Ivan Drury pointing to MSRP reductions, vehicles remaining on dealer lots and the potential federal tax-credit work-around as factors that could enable automakers to discount EVs. That industry explanation should not be mistaken for a guarantee that any individual buyer qualifies for a tax benefit or Nissan offer.
What changed for the 2026 ARIYA in Canada?
Nissan Canada announced a 2026 ARIYA starting MSRP of CA$52,898 and reductions from the previous model year of CA$3,000 for SL e-4ORCE and CA$4,600 for SL FWD grades and higher. These are Canadian figures and comparisons with the prior model year; they should not be applied to U.S. pricing or treated as a dealer’s final transaction price. See Nissan Canada’s 2026 ARIYA announcement.

What is the 2026 Nissan LEAF starting price?
Nissan’s U.S. 2026 LEAF MSRP announcement lists three trims. The release also lists a $1,575 destination and handling charge; the table separates MSRP from that charge rather than presenting a destination-inclusive total. See Nissan U.S.’s pricing release.

|---|---|
| S+ | $29,990 |
| SV+ | $34,230 |
| PLATINUM+ | $38,990 |

Nissan’s U.S. specifications page lists up to 303 miles of EPA-estimated range for the S+, a 75 kWh battery for the 2026 LEAF and NACS compatibility. Is the LEAF a better deal than the Chevrolet Bolt?
Price alone does not settle the comparison. In a July 2026 comparison, the Associated Press/Edmunds reported a U.S. 2027 Chevrolet Bolt LT starting price of $28,995 including destination and a 2026 LEAF S+ starting price of $31,535. The report described the LEAF as offering greater maximum EPA-estimated range and cargo utility, while the Bolt had the lower starting price; the vehicles received the same overall score. These are reported model-year comparison prices, not live dealer quotes. Read the AP/Edmunds comparison.
To judge value for your needs, compare the same market and transaction basis: model year and trim, MSRP including destination, dealer discount, applicable incentives, actual out-the-door price, EPA-rated range, charging access and time, cabin and cargo utility, and included equipment. A lower starting price may matter more if your budget is tight; range, cargo space or equipment may justify a higher price for another buyer.

Can you combine Nissan incentives with a dealer discount?
Do not assume that every manufacturer offer, tax benefit and dealer discount can be combined. Nissan’s U.S. incentives page presents potential offers as personalized and conditional, and the eligibility and terms for a specific transaction must be confirmed. Its unconfigured display of $0 is not evidence that no offer exists. Check Nissan’s U.S. incentives and offers, then ask the dealer to itemize the exact vehicle price, dealer discount, each rebate or incentive, eligibility conditions, and destination charge in writing.
