Nissan unveiled two China-market new-energy vehicles at Auto Shanghai on April 23, 2025: the Frontier Pro, a plug-in hybrid pickup, and the Dongfeng Nissan N7, a battery-electric sedan. Nissan’s published specifications include more than 300 kW of combined power for the truck and up to 635 km of stated range for the sedan; those figures are manufacturer claims, not independent test results. The N7’s range and the Frontier Pro’s electric-only range are different measures, so they are not directly comparable.
What are the Frontier Pro PHEV and Nissan N7?
The Frontier Pro is a plug-in hybrid pickup announced for China. It combines a gasoline engine with an electric motor, allowing electric-only driving for a manufacturer-stated distance before the vehicle relies on its broader hybrid system. Nissan called its design concept “Rugged Tech” and said the truck pairs a modern exterior with a spacious, refined interior. That is Nissan’s styling description, rather than an independent design assessment. Nissan’s April 23, 2025 announcement.
The Dongfeng Nissan N7 is a front-wheel-drive, fully electric sedan. It has no gasoline engine, and its driving range is stated as a single-charge EV range. Although the two vehicles were introduced as part of Nissan’s China NEV program, they serve different vehicle types and powertrain needs; the announcement does not establish them as direct competitors.
What did Nissan announce about the Frontier Pro PHEV?
Powertrain and performance claims
Nissan described a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine paired with a high-output electric motor mounted in the transmission. The company reported combined system power above 300 kW and torque up to 800 Nm. These are Nissan-published specifications, not independently verified performance figures.

Electric-only range and vehicle-to-load power
For the China domestic-market version, Nissan targeted up to 135 km of electric-only range. This is not the truck’s total driving range: a plug-in hybrid can also use its gasoline engine. Nissan did not establish that this figure applies to export versions.
Nissan also said the Frontier Pro’s vehicle-to-load (V2L) port can supply up to 6 kW for household devices. That describes the announced power capability; it does not identify a particular supported accessory or establish real-world output in a test.

What are the N7’s range, battery and charging claims?
Nissan announced two lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery capacities for the front-wheel-drive N7, with a single motor rated from 160 kW to 200 kW and maximum torque of 305 Nm. The company reported these range and charging figures:

All figures in the table are Nissan claims from its April 23, 2025 announcement. The release does not provide an independent test or enough detail about the range test cycle to compare these values directly with another vehicle’s claimed range. Charging times are also company-reported figures, not a guarantee of the time a driver will see under different conditions.

What features did Nissan highlight for the N7?
Nissan reported a drag coefficient of 0.208 and described cabin comfort features that include motion-sickness prevention. It said the driver-assistance system was developed with Momenta and named it “Navigate on Autopilot.” These are manufacturer descriptions; the announcement does not provide independent findings about aerodynamic performance, comfort outcomes or driver-assistance performance.

Nissan’s original 2025 announcement said both vehicles were confirmed for future export. On April 24, 2026, the company announced that it planned to export the N7 to Latin America and ASEAN, and the Frontier Pro to Latin America, ASEAN and the Middle East. Those are regional intentions, not confirmation that either vehicle is on sale in every country in those regions. Nissan’s April 24, 2026 export announcement.
The name Frontier Pro PHEV here refers to the truck announced for China. A separate Nissan announcement about planned U.S. and Canadian products does not establish this China-announced pickup or the N7 as a North American retail offering. For a specific country, check the local Nissan entity for a market-specific launch, local name, price, specifications, dealer inventory, warranty and charging compatibility.
