There is no reliable single annual figure for maintaining a Nissan GT-R R35. Costs depend on the car’s model year and service history, mileage, driving conditions, and local labor rates. The clearest budget signal in Nissan’s U.S. schedules is the recurring fluid work—especially the transmission and differential service listed at 36,000 miles or 36 months in the 2018 guide. Use the guide for your specific car and treat owner-reported prices as dated examples, not quotes.
Why R35 maintenance costs vary
“R35” covers multiple model years, and Nissan’s maintenance schedules are not interchangeable. The interval and task list in one year’s guide should not be assumed to apply to every GT-R. Start with the maintenance guide or lookup for the car’s model year, then compare it with the documented service history.
Driving conditions matter as well. Nissan’s guidance includes shorter fluid intervals when specified fluid-temperature thresholds are reached, so a car driven hard or exposed to high temperatures may need service sooner than a mileage-only plan suggests. A useful estimate also needs to distinguish routine consumables from major scheduled driveline work and account for geography, shop choice, and quote date.
What Nissan’s schedules call for
Engine oil and filter
For the 2024 U.S. GT-R, Nissan’s maintenance lookup says to replace engine oil and filter every 6,000 miles or 6 months under both standard and severe conditions. That is a 2024 schedule reference, not a universal interval for every R35 year. Check the applicable year’s documentation at Nissan’s 2024 GT-R maintenance lookup.

- Includes Genuine Nissan Oil Filter 15208-65F0E (Small Nissan Filter)
- Includes Copper Washer 11026-JA00A
- Manufactured By ExxonMobil Oil Corporation
Nissan’s 2020 guide specifies Mobil 1 (0W-40) or equivalent for engine oil and says: “The VR38 engine with its plasma-sprayed bores was developed using this oil.” Use the oil specification in the correct guide for the vehicle rather than treating this model-year-specific guidance as a substitute for checking your own manual.
Transmission and differential fluids
Nissan’s 2018 U.S. guide lists transmission oil and front and rear differential oil replacement at 36,000 miles or 36 months, alongside inspection items. The exact tasks depend on whether Schedule 1 or Schedule 2 applies. Consult the 2018 GT-R service and maintenance guide and verify the appropriate schedule for the car; do not assume this interval or its task list applies unchanged to all R35 model years.

- Includes Genuine Nissan Oil Filter 15208-65F0E (Small Nissan Filter)
- Includes Copper Washer 11026-JA00A
- Manufactured By ExxonMobil Oil Corporation
The 2020 guide specifies Genuine Nissan Transmission Oil R35 Special or equivalent, and Differential Oil R35 COMPETITION type 2189E or equivalent for both differentials. Confirm the correct fluid and procedure against the applicable model-year guide before service.
Brake fluid and other inspection items
Nissan’s 2020 guide specifies Genuine Nissan Brake Fluid R35 Special II or equivalent. Nissan’s maintenance lookup also identifies items such as brake pads and rotors, air filters, coolant, spark plugs, alignment, and suspension components. Their presence on a schedule or component list does not establish a universal replacement interval, price, or lifespan; condition, model year, and the applicable schedule matter.

How hard use and fluid temperature affect service
Nissan’s 2020 guide shortens some service intervals when specified fluid temperatures are reached. For engine oil at 230°F (110°C) to 266°F (130°C), it calls for oil and filter changes every 3,000 miles (5,000 km). It also specifies 3,000-mile (5,000-km) intervals for transmission and differential fluids in their stated elevated temperature ranges, and immediate changes after the specified maximum temperature thresholds are exceeded.
Those instructions are tied to the temperature conditions and fluids described in the 2020 guide; they are not a blanket rule that every owner should use a 3,000-mile interval. Review the guide’s complete thresholds and instructions for the car in question, particularly if it sees demanding use. A service history that records fluid work and relevant driving conditions is more useful than a mileage figure alone.

What reported service prices can—and cannot—tell you
One U.S. owner’s 2023 Reddit post about a 2020 GT-R reported about $1,100 for two- and four-year maintenance, including an oil change, coolant flush, brake-fluid flush, and air filters. The owner attributed about $900 to labor and described dealer service. The same post estimated about $3,500–$4,000 for the 36,000-mile transmission and front/rear differential fluid service. These are one person’s historical estimates, not current shop quotes or representative averages.
The post also estimated $1,600–$1,900 for summer tires, plus roughly $200 for installation, and said replacement timing ranged from 10,000 to 20,000 miles depending on driving. Those figures are likewise anecdotal, not current pricing or a guaranteed tire life. Treat them as examples of the kinds of expenses an owner may need to plan for, not as a price list.

- Premium Material: This air conditioner spool kit is made of high quality plastic and metal material, smooth surface, lightweight and hard texture, high mechanical strength. It has good sealing and impact resistance, high and low temperature resistance, not easy to aging and cracking and loose off, can be used for a long time.
- Design: It adopts R134a precision valve spool, which accurately controls the cooling flow path of the automobile air conditioning system and effectively regulates the system pressure and temperature. It automatically cuts off or regulates when the system pressure is abnormal, protects the compressor and other components, and guarantees the stable operation of the air conditioning system.
- Widely Application: This air conditioning spool kit is compatible with most car models on the market, you don't need to worry about mismatch with your car. It is also compatible with R134a and R12 and other mainstream automotive air conditioning refrigeration systems, which is a practical and convenient component.
- Easy to Use: Its installation is not complicated at all. First you need to turn off the vehicle power completely, then wear gloves and use professional tools to recover the recycled air conditioner cooling water, disassemble the old spool, clean up the installation area and replace it with a new one. Finally refill the air conditioning cooling water and start the vehicle to test whether the car air conditioning is working properly.
- Package: This air conditioner spool kit contains R134A universal spool, big buick, small buick, R12 system spool, valve wrench tool, protective cap and so on. Good quality and sufficient quantity is enough for your daily use, replacement and maintenance of your car air conditioning system.
No reliable population-level statistic or current representative U.S. annual maintenance cost is established here. A real budget may also be affected by insurance, fuel, taxes, financing, storage, regional labor rates, parts prices, depreciation, and infrequent major repairs; the available figures do not quantify those items.

- Identify the model year and schedule. Use that vehicle’s Nissan maintenance guide or lookup, not a chart for a different year.
- Read the service history against both time and mileage. Check whether scheduled oil, transmission, differential, and brake-fluid work is documented, and note gaps or unclear entries.
- Account for use and temperature. Ask whether the car’s history includes demanding driving or fluid-temperature conditions that trigger shortened intervals in its guide.
- Separate routine service from major scheduled work. Request itemized estimates for the work due now, including transmission and front/rear differential fluids when applicable, rather than relying on a single annual-cost guess.
- Compare written local quotes. Record the date, geography, dealer or independent shop, labor, specified fluids, and included tasks. The available owner account does not establish a consistent price difference between dealer and independent service.
- Inspect condition-dependent items. Ask the shop to assess brakes, tires, filters, coolant, spark plugs, alignment, and suspension components as relevant; do not assign them a replacement schedule or price without vehicle-specific evidence.
For a used R35, the service records and a model-year-correct inspection are more informative than a generic ownership-cost average. If records are missing, obtain local written estimates for overdue or uncertain work before setting a budget.
