But that test bike was heavily upgraded, its range fell short of Nireeka’s claim in the reviewer’s rides, and current ABS availability for the Revenant is not confirmed by Nireeka’s product pages.
What the 2023 Revenant review actually tested
In a review published July 30, 2023, New Atlas described the Revenant as a semi-fat-tire, dual-suspension e-bike positioned between Nireeka’s more specialized models. Its aim was to bridge street riding and off-road use. The pearlized-white review bike came with most of the available upgrades, so its equipment and price should not be mistaken for the base model. New Atlas’s review listed a starting price of US$2,499 at the time; the upgrades on the tested bike added a little over US$2,000.
The tested configuration included an 840 Wh battery, a 1,000 W rear hub motor, upgraded drivetrain and brake rotors, a fast charger, a torque sensor and optional Blubrake ABS. Those details describe the 2023 test bike, not every Revenant or the current ordering options.
How the motor rides—and where it is less suited
New Atlas reported that the review bike’s rear hub motor was rated at 1,000 W and 85 Nm. The reviewer liked its punchy acceleration, but found the torque-sensor response less natural than on mid-drive e-bikes. A hub motor also sends its drive force through the wheel rather than applying motor torque through the bicycle’s chain and gears.

#1 Best Overall
- Ride Longer Between Charges: The 48V 15Ah removable battery supports up to 70 miles of range for this electric bicycle, covering daily commutes, errands, and weekend rides. Built with UL-certified battery safety protection and water-resistant design, it recharges fully in about 5-6 hours.
- Climb with Less Effort: 2000W peak output and 99Nm torque help this electric bike deliver confident starts, hill support, and smooth assist for city streets, neighborhood roads, and mixed daily routes.
- Stay Comfortable on More Roads: This fat tire electric bike uses 20 x 4.0 fat tires and dual suspension to help improve grip, comfort, and stability on pavement, gravel paths, park roads, beach routes, and uneven streets.
- Carry More for Daily Plans: The rear seat pad supports short passenger trips, weekend rides with friends, errands, and cargo. With a 330 lb payload capacity and rider fit from 5.4" in to 6.3", RetroVolt 330 is built for shared daily use.
- Choose the Ride That Fits: Five riding modes and a 7-speed drivetrain let you adjust the ride for commuting, cruising, light outdoor routes, or pedal-assisted exercise without making the bike feel complicated.
That layout suits brisk street riding, paths and lighter trails. For repeated slow, steep climbs, the reviewer considered the Revenant less capable than a mid-drive bike, which can use its gearing more effectively on a climb. The review reported Nireeka’s maximum-speed claim as 57 km/h; the reviewer saw 53 km/h on flat pavement, where the gearing made sustained high-speed pedaling awkward. The reviewer suggested a different chainring as a possible fix, but did not test that change.
How far does the Revenant go on a charge?
For the 840 Wh battery, Nireeka claimed up to 80 km (50 miles). The 2023 New Atlas review reported lower results in its rides, with outcomes that varied by rider and conditions:

| Ride or figure | Distance | Conditions and attribution |
|---|---|---|
| Nireeka’s stated range | 80 km (50 miles) | Manufacturer claim for the 840 Wh battery, as reported by New Atlas in July 2023; not an achieved test result. |
| Regular riding | About 50 km | New Atlas reviewer’s reported use; no single standardized route or riding condition was specified for this figure. |
| Separate group ride | 54 km | Distance reported by another group in the review; the article did not establish a controlled comparison. |
| Low-assist flat-route test | 60 km | New Atlas reviewer’s ride at 30–35 km/h with low assist, inflated tires and locked suspension. Battery limp-home mode appeared at about 10% in that test. |
These observations are not a range guarantee. Battery size alone does not determine distance: assist use, terrain, speed, rider load and setup all matter. The 60 km result came from specific low-assist, flat-route conditions and should not be treated as a typical outcome for every rider.
What the optional ABS did—and what remains uncertain
On the 2023 review bike, the optional Blubrake system controlled the front brake. New Atlas reported controlled stops on gravel, dirt and mud in the reviewer’s tests, making ABS a meaningful safety feature on slippery surfaces. It is front-wheel-only, rather than a system acting on both wheels.

The reviewer also noted visible ABS hardware, a separate power switch and potential battery drain if the system was left switched on. A later editor’s note in the review relayed Blubrake’s statement that manufacturers can integrate the system with bike controllers.
Do not assume ABS comes standard or is currently orderable on the Revenant. Nireeka’s current specification page promotes ABS in copy naming the Mega, but does not clearly establish present-day Revenant ABS availability. Confirm the exact model, configuration and ABS inclusion with Nireeka before ordering.

Who is the Revenant best suited to?
- Consider it if you want a distinctive full-suspension e-bike for fast street riding, paths and lighter trails, and value strong acceleration from a rear hub motor.
- Look closely at the configuration if the 840 Wh battery, upgraded drivetrain, fast charger or ABS are important; the 2023 review bike had upgrades that were not part of the stated base price.
- Compare mid-drive alternatives if your regular routes involve repeated steep, slow climbs and you want the motor to benefit from the bike’s gearing.
- Plan for transport and fit around the listed 62 lb weight. New Atlas described the bike as tall and heavy; the reviewer managed to fit it to a high-end Thule rack, but did not establish compatibility with every rack.
New Atlas reviewer Loz Blain summed up the tested bike this way: “The basic bike underneath is quick, comfortable, capable and a lot of fun.” That enthusiasm belongs to the 2023 test configuration and should be weighed against its range results, climbing trade-offs and the need to verify current options.
