Nilu27’s NILU is built around a specific promise to driving purists: a naturally aspirated V12, a seven-speed manual and an intentionally analogue approach without electrification. The company’s current specification lists 1,070 hp at 11,000 rpm, while its July 2026 dyno announcement claims initial runs exceeded that figure. Those are different kinds of evidence: one is the published specification, the other a company-reported test result.
What makes the NILU a car for driving purists?
Nilu27 framed the NILU as a rejection of electrification, digitalization and other technological aids. That is the company’s stated design intent, not an independent verdict on how the finished car drives. Launch-era reporting also described a rear-wheel-drive layout, a gated manual and the absence of a hybrid system and several driver aids; those reports describe the car at its 2024 unveiling, not a guarantee that every production specification remains unchanged.
The philosophy is expressed in the hardware: a high-revving, naturally aspirated V12 and a seven-speed CIMA manual transmission. Rather than relying on an electric motor or turbocharging to add power, the NILU’s published figures center on engine speed and a bespoke combustion engine.

What did Nilu27 say about the V12’s first dyno runs?
In a July 13, 2026 release, Nilu27 said the bespoke V12 had fired up for the first time and produced more than 1,070 hp at 11,000 rpm during initial dyno runs. This is a company-reported result; the available reporting does not independently validate the test. How is the V12 configured?
Nilu27 developed the 6.5-liter, 80-degree V12 with New Zealand-based Hartley Engines. The company describes its layout as a “Hot V,” with intake and exhaust positions swapped, and says the engine uses 12 individual throttle bodies. Its 12-into-1 Inconel exhaust is described as 3D-printed.
The arrangement makes the engine more than a power figure: it is the centerpiece of the car’s stated analogue character. At the 2024 unveiling, Hartley Engines founder and CEO Nelson Hartley said, “We want to get a cold sweat every time the V12 starts and revs.” That is his description of the ambition, not a measured performance claim. What wheels, tires and brakes does Nilu27 specify?
The company lists center-lock wheels produced by AppTech, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires and Brembo carbon-ceramic braking equipment. The stated tire fitment is:
- Front: 265/35 R20
- Rear: 325/30 R21

How many NILUs were announced, and what is known about production?
Nilu27’s May 2024 announcement laid out two planned groups: an initial run of 15 cars and a separate street-homologated version limited to 54 units, including four described as one-off designs. The company also said Aria Group in Irvine would assemble prototype vehicles and the first customer batch while Nilu27 ramped up overseas facilities.

What the NILU’s numbers do—and do not—tell you
The published 1,070 hp, 860 Nm and 400 kph limited top speed make the NILU’s intended performance clear on paper. They do not establish an independently measured top speed, acceleration time, lap time or road-test result.
