The Nike Vomero 5 Cordura gives the Y2K-era sneaker a more outdoors-oriented look through a different upper, round rope laces and earthy colors. It reportedly keeps the familiar flat sole and plastic heel cage, however, and the available coverage provides no testing to establish it as a technical trail-running shoe. Gear Patrol reported a $170 price and launch colorways called “College Grey” and “Camo Green” on October 3, 2026; that report is not confirmation of current stock.
What changed on the Nike Vomero 5 Cordura?
The standard Vomero 5 debuted as a running shoe in 2011 and later became associated with the 2020s Y2K sneaker trend. For the Cordura version, Gear Patrol reports a material and styling update rather than a redesign of the shoe’s basic shape.
Upper materials and laces
According to Gear Patrol’s October 3, 2026 report, breathable mesh and synthetic overlays are replaced with Cordura Re/cor and suede. The laces also change from flat athletic laces to round rope laces. The publication describes Cordura as a family of textiles valued for abrasion resistance, and Re/cor as a variant made with post-industrial recycled nylon. No quantitative durability or environmental-performance figures are provided.
What remains familiar
The report says the shoe retains the Vomero 5’s flat sole and plastic heel cage. It also notes a webbing lace loop on the tongue and an image of Nike cofounder Bill Bowerman on the sole. The overall palette is described as earthy.

Is the Vomero 5 Cordura a trail-running shoe?
The outdoor makeover is evident in the reported materials and styling, but those details alone do not establish trail performance. Gear Patrol provides no comparative testing, traction measurements, waterproofing claim or trail-use rating for this version. It is therefore more accurate to describe it as an outdoor-styled Vomero 5 than as a proven technical trail runner.

Gear Patrol reported a $170 price and two launch colorways: “College Grey” and “Camo Green.” At the time of its October 3, 2026 article, the shoe was available in select overseas markets, with a U.S. arrival expected in the following weeks. That was a time-specific launch report; current inventory, regional availability and sizing are not established here.
