Later, on June 25, 2026, GMC’s reveal-era coverage supplied screen sizes and trim-specific equipment—details the camouflaged prototypes could not establish.
What the Sierra 1500 spy photos showed
In photos reported by Car and Driver on March 5, 2026, the prototype dashboard paired a digital gauge cluster with a larger, landscape-oriented touchscreen. The images also showed a volume knob near the steering wheel, a column-mounted electronic shifter, toggle switches beneath the center HVAC vents and more buttons below them.
Those are observations from an early test vehicle, not a complete specification of the production cabin. The photos established the general layout and the presence of tactile controls; they did not provide final screen measurements or a trim-by-trim equipment list.
Does the new Sierra keep physical controls?
Yes. The photos showed physical controls alongside the screen, and GMC’s reveal-era explanation made that choice explicit. Head interior designer Therese Pinazzo said, “We know our customers want hard controls,” and, “We know they want a tactile connection to the truck,” as quoted in Car and Driver’s June 25, 2026 reveal coverage.

The early images therefore pointed to a mixed interface rather than a dashboard that relies on a touchscreen alone. They showed a volume knob and rows of switches and buttons, though they do not establish the final function or placement of every control.
What the reveal later confirmed about the screens
The June 25, 2026 reveal coverage reported three display sizes: a 12.2-inch digital driver display, a 16.3-inch center touchscreen and, on selected trims, an 11.5-inch passenger display. The passenger display is optional on AT4 and Denali and standard on AT4X and Denali Ultimate, according to Car and Driver.

The center screen is motorized and lifts to expose a storage cubby. The same report lists this feature as standard on Elevation, Denali, AT4X and Denali Ultimate. These measurements and availability details come from the later reveal coverage, not from the earlier spy photos.
Why the Pro prototype looked different
Camouflaged Pro prototype images published by GM Authority in April 2026 appeared to show a different screen arrangement from another photographed prototype. The images showed two screens, a large volume knob, what appeared to be a digital gauge cluster and a column shifter.

Because the Pro photos were partially camouflaged, they do not establish the final Pro cabin specification. GM Authority also speculated about some other elements; those expectations should not be treated as confirmed equipment. The contrast is useful as an early indication that dashboard layouts may vary, while the later reveal coverage provides specific passenger-display availability for the trims it names.

Details reported after the reveal go beyond the spy-photo story. The center-console cover flips into a flat work surface, the cupholders can be repositioned, and two magnetic wireless charging pads hold phones at an angle. The panoramic sunroof is a first for the Sierra: it is standard on Denali, Denali Ultimate and AT4X, and optional on AT4 and Elevation, according to Car and Driver’s reveal coverage.

Denali and Denali Ultimate receive a new 16-speaker audio system with speakers in the headrests. Denali Ultimate also gets birch open-pore wood trim. The Car and Driver interior gallery identifies the accents as real wood and reports three years of GM Super Cruise with Denali Ultimate.
