Ford’s U.S. lineup materials list six SUV and crossover nameplates to consider for 2026: Escape, Bronco Sport, Mustang Mach-E, Bronco, Explorer and Expedition. The model-year transition is already visible on Ford’s own pages: the showroom lists Explorer and Expedition as 2027, while Ford’s homepage still shows 2026. Check the model-year label on the specific vehicle before comparing prices or placing an order.
Ford’s 2026 SUV lineup at a glance
The prices below are starting MSRP snapshots from Ford pages reviewed on October 4, 2026. They are not dealer quotes, out-the-door prices or guaranteed transaction prices. Ford’s showroom warns that its online information may not be accurate, current or complete; local availability, fees, incentives and the vehicle’s actual model year can change what you pay.

| Model | Observed starting MSRP | What to compare |
|---|---|---|
| Escape | $30,350 (Ford showroom snapshot) | Mainstream crossover; check the current build page for orderable trims and powertrains. |
| Bronco Sport | $31,845 (Ford showroom snapshot) | Smaller Bronco-family crossover; confirm equipment and drivetrain on the selected trim. |
| Mustang Mach-E | $37,795 (Ford’s 2026 model page; Select starting price) | All-electric SUV; consider charging access, route needs and trim-specific range. |
| Explorer | $38,465 (Ford showroom snapshot) | Three-row family-SUV candidate; verify model year and seating on the actual configuration. |
| Bronco | $40,795 (Ford showroom snapshot; Ford homepage displayed $41,295) | Midsize 4×4 offered in two- and four-door forms, with removable tops. |
| Expedition | $63,600 (Ford showroom snapshot; Ford homepage displayed $62,700) | Full-size SUV; verify the model year and current price with Ford or a dealer. |
The differences between Ford’s displayed Bronco and Expedition prices are a reason to confirm current pricing, not to assume one page is a binding quote. Ford’s showroom currently labels Explorer and Expedition 2027; its homepage still labels both 2026. These six nameplates are useful starting points for a 2026 search, but the model year shown on a dealer’s actual vehicle is decisive.

Escape: mainstream crossover shopping
Start with Escape if you want to compare Ford’s mainstream crossover against the larger SUVs in the lineup. Ford’s showroom snapshot supplies a starting MSRP, but the reviewed material does not establish a single powertrain or trim as universally available; use Ford’s current build page and local inventory to identify what can actually be ordered or purchased.

Bronco Sport: a smaller Bronco-family option
Bronco Sport sits below Bronco in Ford’s SUV lineup and has its own trim and drivetrain details. Do not infer that it shares the full-size Bronco’s body construction or capability because the names are similar. Compare the specific Bronco Sport’s equipment and drivetrain with the terrain and everyday use you expect.
Mustang Mach-E: the all-electric choice
Among these six models, Mustang Mach-E is the all-electric SUV. Ford’s 2026 page displays EPA-estimated range by trim: Select, 300 miles; Premium, 320 miles; GT, 280 miles; and Rally, 255 miles. These are trim-specific estimates, not a promise of the distance any driver will cover. Configuration, battery and drivetrain matter, as do route, weather and charging circumstances. Check the estimate for the exact build and whether its charging needs suit your regular trips.

Bronco: two- or four-door 4×4 with removable tops
Ford’s 2026 technical specifications describe Bronco as a midsize 4×4 SUV available with two or four doors and removable tops. The listed trims are Base, Big Bend, Outer Banks, Badlands, Heritage Edition, Stroppe Edition and Raptor. Compare body style, top configuration and the equipment on the trim you want; trim names alone do not establish that every feature is included.

Explorer: a three-row candidate in a changing model year
Explorer is worth considering when you need to assess a family SUV with a third row. Ford’s 2026 order guide specifies a third row on listed equipment, while the current showroom labels Explorer 2027. Check the exact model-year vehicle and configuration, then try child-seat access, passenger space and cargo room with the seats in the positions you will actually use. The available Ford material does not provide one consistent seating-and-cargo comparison across all six models, so do not rely on a nameplate-wide capacity assumption.

Expedition: Ford’s full-size SUV
Expedition is the full-size option in this group. Ford’s current showroom identifies it as 2027, although the homepage snapshot still shows 2026 and displays a different starting price. Confirm model year, build and local price before treating a listing as a 2026 vehicle.
How to narrow the choices
- Set the space requirement. Decide how many people need regular seats, whether a third row is necessary, how child seats will be installed and how much cargo space you need with passengers aboard. Check the actual vehicle rather than assuming capacity from the model name.
- Choose your powertrain needs. If you want an all-electric SUV, compare Mach-E trims and their EPA estimates with your routes and charging access. For the other models, use Ford’s current build information to compare the powertrains and trims actually offered.
- Match vehicle and terrain. Compare Bronco’s body style and trim equipment with your intended use. Evaluate Bronco Sport separately; its family resemblance does not prove equivalent capability.
- Compare like-for-like prices. Treat Ford’s listed starting MSRP as an initial filter. Confirm the model year, trim, equipment, destination and other fees, local inventory, and any incentives with Ford or a dealer before comparing purchase offers.
- Check specialist towing needs. If you intend to tow a vehicle four wheels down behind a motorhome, consult Ford’s model- and drivetrain-specific RV towing guide and follow its footnotes and procedures. That eligibility is not the same as a trailer tow rating.
Motorhome flat towing: check the exact model and drivetrain
Ford’s 2026 RV & Trailer Towing Guide lists Bronco and Expedition 4×4 for four-wheels-down towing, subject to the guide’s footnotes. It marks Bronco Sport, Escape and Explorer “No.” This is guidance for RV flat towing—not a comparison of trailer tow ratings—and it should not be generalized to every configuration or model year. Ford calls for a separate functional brake system and directs owners to model-specific procedures; consult the guide before towing.

One fitment detail for Explorer buyers
Ford’s 2026 Explorer order guide lists a wheel lock kit as optional equipment. Confirm the accessory’s fit with the specific trim and wheels before purchase; the order-guide reference alone does not establish compatibility with every configuration.
