The charger that suits a Tata Punch EV depends on its model year and variant. Tata’s current specification listing for the June 2026 Punch.ev (30 kWh and 40 kWh) shows a 3.3 kW AC adapter cable, while a 7.2 kW wallbox is documented for the original 2024 lineup and appears as a non-standard option in a dealer-hosted 2026 brochure. Confirm your exact variant’s onboard AC charging limit and what is included before buying a wallbox. Installation may be complimentary under Tata.ev’s stated conditions, but extra cable, earthing and civil work can add costs.
First check which Punch EV you own
Charging figures differ across generations, so do not apply an old brochure’s battery capacity or charging time to a newer car. Tata launched the original Punch.ev in 2024 with 25 kWh and 35 kWh batteries; in June 2026, it introduced a new Punch.ev with 30 kWh and 40 kWh batteries. Tata’s 2024 brochure and launch information describe the original lineup, while the 2026 figures below come from current or dealer-hosted material as identified. Tata’s current Punch.ev specifications should be checked against your exact variant before ordering equipment.

Which home charger options are available?
| Option | What the evidence establishes | Charging-time estimate |
|---|---|---|
| 3.3 kW AC adapter cable, current model | Tata’s search-indexed specification listing for the June 2026 30 kWh and 40 kWh Punch.ev lists a 3.3 kW AC adapter cable. The complete specification page was not directly accessible, so confirm the equipment and onboard AC limit for your exact variant with Tata before purchase. | No verified 2026 full-charge time is established for this cable. Do not reuse the 2024 figures as a current-model guarantee. |
| 3.3 kW regular AC setup, original 2024 lineup | Tata’s 2024 brochure describes the regular charging setup and lists an included charger for the original standard-range version. It gives estimates from a 15A plug point in its specifications section. | From 10% to 100%: about 9.4 hours for the original standard-range model and 13.5 hours for the original Long Range model. Manufacturer estimates, not guaranteed times for every supply or battery condition. |
| 7.2 kW AC wallbox, original 2024 lineup | Tata’s 2024 brochure lists this as an option for the original Long Range. The current 2026 dealer-hosted brochure calls it non-standard fitment; confirm compatibility with Tata for your exact current variant. | Tata’s 2024 estimate from 10% to 100% was about 3.6 hours for the original standard-range model and 5 hours for the original Long Range. The dealer-hosted 2026 brochure estimates about 4.5 hours for 30 kWh and 5.3 hours for 40 kWh; these are secondary-source figures, not a confirmed current Tata specification. |
The current 3.3 kW adapter-cable listing does not establish that every 2026 variant can accept AC power at 7.2 kW. A higher-rated wallbox cannot by itself make a car charge faster than its onboard AC limit. Ask Tata to confirm that limit and the charger included with your car, in writing, before selecting a faster unit.

For the original 2024 Punch.ev, Tata’s published estimates provide a useful comparison: the regular setup was estimated at roughly 9.4 hours (standard range) or 13.5 hours (Long Range) for a 10–100% charge; the optional 7.2 kW AC charger was estimated at roughly 3.6 or 5 hours, respectively. Those numbers apply to the old 25 kWh/35 kWh lineup, not automatically to the June 2026 30 kWh/40 kWh cars.

For the 2026 cars, a dealer-hosted brochure gives 10–100% estimates of about 4.5 hours for the 30 kWh version and 5.3 hours for the 40 kWh version with 7.2 kW AC. Treat those as indicative only and seek confirmation from Tata; they are not shown on an accessible official specification page. Actual charging time can vary with the car’s charging limit, supply and battery state.
A public DC fast charger is a separate option, not a home-charging substitute. Tata’s original 2024 launch release quoted 10–80% in 56 minutes using a 50 kW DC charger; that figure is for the original vehicle and public charging context, not a home wallbox.

Check your electrical supply before installation
Tata.ev recommends a dedicated charging meter. If the charger will share a three-phase supply, its guidance is to dedicate one phase to the EV charger; for a 7.2 kW unit, connected load should be above 7.2 kW. The guidance also stresses proper earthing and notes that a Tata Power technician can advise on arranging it through a licensed electrician.
